I was looking online for some long range drones to get an idea about which ones can fly the farthest. https://dronesgator.com/long-range-drones/
It seems the Mavic 2 pro is top of the game, with its 8 km, but what about the fact that the battery can only last for it to go up to 5 km and then back and that's it!
Even if you use the entire 8km, you'd have to land at the 8km spot.

Even so, does the longer range capability help with signal strenght in some way?

Where did you read that the battery lasts for 5KM? The M2P cruises at 31MPH in p-mode with an average battery life of 25+ minutes... Dustin Dunhill did a great YT vid demonstrating how he reached 6.09 MILES and returned safely for a 12.2 MILE round trip flight (nearly 20KM)...

I flew 7349 meters out and back to total almost 15000 meters at 300 meters high and landed with 10% battery, would have gotten more had I not be that high so the battery easily gets past 5km

Longer range communication capability, would be good indication of improved transmitted and receivied signal strength.  Whether it be result of more transmission power, better antennas, improved signal filtering, or improved data transmission protocol by Drone and RC.

Overall, believe it would help with Drone / RC communications when there is signal interference by: trees, buildings, or radio transmissions in freq bands (above, below, or multiples of).  In other words, drone / RC designed to work at longer ranges, is less likely to have disconnects (or drops) at closer distances.

Yes, but he was using Hypermiling and those brand newest ultra high-efficiency props.
Also he glided drone by flying it downhill both ways.  

Battery isn't the limiting factor. It's maintaining VLOS. But if you're willing to bend/break that rule then there's no reason you wouldn't be able to fly 4 miles away and 4 miles back.

He did land on 0% battery but at least it landed on his landing pad It’s a great vid and the drone still had 2 bars of signal over 6 miles out.

You'd think at those distances but no, all stock out the box - amazing performance. I have no idea why the OP thinks it will only fly a total of 10KM on a battery - it can double that!
