Jeep Wrangler is an icon in the offroad vehicle world and this classic model has an timeless charm.
The 1997 Wrangler TJ Sport 2500cc along with dust, bumps and rocks are protagonists in this short video set in the unique Lanzarote Landscape.
We filmed this short video in Lanzarote as part of a larger project called "Jeep: a Life Style" that tells the story of a young man that has seen a lot of dirt and offroad tracks in his life.
The full project is part of our portfolio and will be published in the upcoming months.
For those who love technical details: the entire aerial footage was filmed using a DJI Inspire 2 with the Zenmuse X5S and the Apple ProRes codec in 5K resolution allowing us to obtain amazing details, color and general quality in the 4K UHD final render(watch on a 4K capable screen, don't miss the chanche to see the details of 4K footage coming from the Inspire 2!).
When we started planning this video we scouted for an entirely different location, we checked ENAIRE drone maps to avoid controlled airspaces, we studied every maneuver, every curve, every bump and rock along the road and scripted sequences but all that went to hell the moment we arrived on our location ready to film.
To our surprise we discovered that the area we chose was a natural reserve for birds and flights were not allowed.
Unfortunately when we searched the internet for informations there was no mentioning about this so we could not anticipate that.
We had to move to another completely different spot improvising step by step our filming.
We also encountered surprisingly high wind for the season ranging from 13 to 30 knots with gusts even higher which made our job way harder.
Getting those precise, fast movements was at times difficult to near impossible.
We could not fly for several days leaving us in the end with less than half the time we planned to produce this clip.
My main regret with production was not being able to bring with us a proper car mount for our Lumix cameras.
We were laden with equipment as we were and professional suction cup are heavy and space consuming making it impossible to use them at this time for this particular project.
As a mater of fact we resorted as a last option to a GoPro Hero 7 for a few shots inside the car from the rear seats which created a big contrast in quality and color if compared to the other sequences.
Side shots from inside the vehicle were filmed with a GH5S.
In the coming weeks we are going to publish a full breakdown/tutorial on how we realized this video with insights, tips and tricks, drone and camera settings, equipment and much more.

Thanks, I'll check them out but this video is not about the Canary Island nor the car itself even thou I love it.
It's about our ability as a team pilot-camera operator to provide potential customers a service.
OK some people told me privately that they would have liked more stunts with the car being a hard core iconic off-road vehicle...
Yes that may have been true if the car wasn't 22 years old, almost losing pieces at every bump and rock and belonging to a private person...unfortunately we didn't have any sponsor to give us a professional driver and a Jeep to demolish
I would have liked that too, yes...maybe one day if we get paid to do crazy stuff, in that case just tell me where I have to sign.To be totally honest we did some filming where the jeep literally goes 45° degrees or walks on big fat rocks but that part is really slow in pace and would have no fitted in this short.
That's footage for the full project.
Ok, this is it for those who were interested, way later than I expected but finally here. This is my very first attempt on a tutorial, sort of, so please by all means share your toughts if any.
I'll gladly accept criticisms to produce better breakdowns in the future.
This is a first part of a planned three chapter serie talking about how to film cars by drone.
In the next weeks we'll be talking about maneuvers, how to plan and perform them, plus we'll be filming something special.
Really cool footage!!! and vid! Curious of your next portfolio. And yes, I live in Lanzarote, and it is quite restricted for droning due to the airport CTR and National Park.
I hope you liked the island! Cheers!
As much as I would like to share a preview of our next job there are a number of things that can go wrong along the way so I'd rather unveil it when it's actually done. ;.)
Hello and good day. Thank you for sharing this video. I'd add a couple more accessories to the jeep to make the video effectivehttps://jeepequipment.com/top-pink-jeep-wrangler-accessories/ . But your work is excellent. Great video, great work and beautiful footage!
