Hi guys

Last year I took my Mavic 1 to Namibia and could fly there more than 6km in distance without having connection shortage.

This year I used my new Mavic 2 in Norway, plane field, no interferences. I was suprised /disappointed, that already after 2km I lost video.

Does it matter where I bought the device (both I bought in Europe) or is is simply a matter of the place you flight? Does the mavic vary the transmission power or change to a different transmission method? Can I control any of this?
Can someone shine some light in this matter please?

Correct. In Europe the CE norms are being used, which have less power than the FCC norms. When you bought the drone in Europe it will automatically apply CE or FCC depending the area you fly.

All drones are similar inside, FCC/CE depends on location (GPS cordinates) - this comes from software (DJI GO)

CE transmission power is about 100mW. FCC is about 400mW so a big difference. No real legit way of changing this unfortunately.

so if I understood correctly, all drones are identical, no matter where you buy it.
And when you fly the Mavic, it will adjust the transmission power according to the regulations of the country you fly in.

Was this the same with Mavic1? I recall flying that drone as well in Norway, getting a larger coverage..

It applies to all drones.

The range of the M2 is CE areas is 5KM and in FCC areas is 8KM. The M1 is 4KM and 7KM.
