Located at 807.4 meters of altitude, the "Santo Antônio belvedere" is the tourism landmark in Ribeirão Pires and is one of the best panoramic views of the city and the Billings Dam. The construction of the Santo Antônio do Mirante Chapel was begun on June 13, 1942, in a collective effort by the Friends of Santo Antônio Beneficent Association, an entity composed mostly of porters of the railroad yard, who were prevented from attending their early church due to to a disagreement with the owner of the land. From then on, the railway workers came together to build their temple and preserve the worship in honor of St. Anthony. The chapel tower was completed only in the 1950s.
