Thanks for doing this. I got Lumafusion and am thinking about picking up an iPad to do video editing on the go. How well did the iPad gen5 handled 4K files (was thinking about getting a iPad Pro but it's quite expensive) and what did you use to transfer the file from the OP to the iPad?
P.S. Is Lumafusion easy to get into as a beginner? I'll start watching tutorial video on YouTube ;-P
iPad 5th gen handles pocket’s 4K 24P high quality setting files brilliantly.
When I edited several clips on timeline, playback is very smooth yet in some clips, when playing through one clip to another, image stuck still until you pause and play or playback move through to next clip.
I am not sure it is only for a certain files or it is lack of power of iPad 5th gen or bug in LumaFusion. Out of about 20 clips I used only 2 clips have this problem.
About file import, Mimo app is not officially support iPad 5th gen and it cannot import 4K video at any frame rate. (Official support is from 6th gen)
So I use OTG dongle and iUSB app.

Something like this.
This app can read files from micro SD card and share it directly to LumaFusion.
I tested up to 4K 60P and imported without a problem.
If you are gonna get a iPad, I recommend 6th gen and above as they have apple pencil support.
For screen size, 9.7” screen was comfortable enough for me. |
