Can we please have 96mm even at 4k and photos?

48mm is cool and all but at least give us a 1.5x crop at 72mm if it taxes the processor so much.  Sometimes you just need to see some more.

It would drive sales up like crazy.

Umm, no, we can't. The sensor is 3992x2992 pixels. At 1920x1080 HD, you have enough pixels available to do a 2x digital zoom on top of the 48mm-equivalent lens setting, which means you're cropping in and only using half the sensor width and height to produce a 96mm-equivalent field of view. But it's pretty hard to divide 3992 in half and come up with the 3840 horizontal pixels you need for 4k.

As far as stills, just shoot at 48mm and crop the photo in post to half the width and height - that's exactly what the digital zoom is doing in-camera. You're only going to get a 3mp image, but that's more than plenty for social media.

So you are saying it's better to shoot at 4k30 at 48mm then crop-in at post?
