Please enjoy this clip about The Opal Coast in Northern France
All the north coast of France, West from Calais is littered with small and bigger bunkers, strongholds, shooting stations. Batterie Todt is small museum located in real bunker, build by Todd Organisation. All this you can see and experience on site. Highly recommended place on this coast. After visit, go along the coast to see other strongholds and think how difficult it was to get there from the sea in 1944.
The last part is Fort Mahon in Ambleteuse.[size=19.200000762939453px]the fort was built from 1682 to 1690 to protect the shipyard of the port. But the project is abandoned soon after due to the frequent silting up of the harbor and currents that agitate the bay.
[size=19.200000762939453px]The fort is restored in 1803 by Napoleon who hopes to eventually land in England. He also built the estuary of the Slack (piers, wharves, dyke beachfront).
