I'm having trouble trying to figure out how to get the DJI controller to work in a simulator program. Anybody successfully connected their controller to their mac? DJI only mentions that you need a dongle, but can't find any additional information about it.

From their FAQ page:
11.What ports do the DJI FPV Remote Controller have? The DJI FPV Remote Controller has a USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm audio interface. To use simulators, you must connect a dongle to the Remote Controller via the 3.5mm audio interface, then connect the dongle to your computer.

Hey Rayk, what did you do to make this work? Just plug and play?  I bought the same dongle and am also using velocidrone but I get nothing from the controller when it's plugged in.

Like fansad, I am also on a mac.

I got it to work to work on Liftoff with a plug and play dongle from Bangood:

I dunno about Velocidrone

With the right dongle, it can work  on a Mac.  I was able to use one I already had for a RC Car racing simulator.  You can see all the details of what I did to get Liftoff working on my Mac here:

Since the last software up to the controller, I am able to connect my DJI controller directly to my MacBookPro, with a standard USB cable and use Liftoff, DRL SIM and Velocidrone. Inside each of these sims you have to add the controller.

Latest Firmware update allows the FPV controller to be used with a simple USB-C Cable.

I don't have a Phantom 3 radio here but after doing some research I found that the Phantom 3 radio doesn't feature a PPM port. Usually your radio connects to your computer via this port. So I'm afraid this won't work in your case. DJI firmware update of last December made it possible to connect the DJI FPV radio to the computer with the USB cable and play a SIM game but I'm not sure you can do that with the Phantom 3 radio. Take a look here:

Hello, i'm new here, i'm trying to connect the new controller for DJI FPV to my Macbook Pro M1 but it doesn't work on Liftoff.
I've installed DJI Assistant but the software doesn't recognize the linked controller.
Any suggestions? Thanks all

Try activating the controller on a Windows PC (install Assistant there, connect the Controller until you see it in the programm) Then try again on your M1 mac. BUT do not use a USBC to USBC cable. You have to use the provided USBAtoUSBC cable whilst having the USBC end of that cable in your controller. The other end can be in a hub or another adapter. Good luck
