hi guys, please find below my newest clip from our vacations in Pafos this time
two amazing in conjuction with sadness shipwrecks where you can find their brief story below:
1. The Honduran-flagged M/V Demetrios II ran aground off Paphos Lighthouse on 23 March 1998 in heavy seas, during a voyage from Greece to Syria with a cargo of timber.
At the time of the accident, the ship had eight crew members - 4 Greeks, 2 Pakistanis, and 2 Syrians. The crew was rescued and airlifted to the safety of Paphos by a British military helicopter.
It was subsequently confirmed in Lloyd's List that the competency certificates for the Greek captain and the Pakistani first officer were forgeries.
The wreck can clearly be seen whilst traveling along the center of Paphos to Coral Bay Road.
2.The Sierra Leone-flagged EDRO III ran aground off Pegeia on 8 December 2011 in heavy seas, during a voyage to Rhodes, from Limassol, Cyprus with a cargo of plasterboard.[1][2] At the time of the accident, the ship had nine crew members – seven Albanians and two Egyptians.[1] The crew was rescued and airlifted to the safety of Paphos by a local British Militaryhelicopter.
The EDRO III is more than 80 meters (260 ft) in length, weighing about 2,300–2500 tons. The ship lies on the sea rocks at an angle of 11–12 degrees near the sea cave area. Together with Germany's CIMEXTA Vessel Salvage Company, the task of safe removal of all diesel, hydrocarbons and marine pollutants onboard the vessel, and making the hull watertight was awarded to a Cypriot marine salvage company. This was completed in October 2013. Due to the danger involved, nobody is allowed on the ship.
Peyia Municipality which is the regional administrative authority where Edro III resides has mentioned that there were several studies and attempts to tow the shipwreck, all of which were abandoned due to the difficulty of the project. There are officially no current plans for its removal
DJI MAVIC 2 PRO was shooting these wonderful footage in 4K HQ. Very difficult this one I can admit especially when you are using the POI flight where I had the sun in one side and close to sunset and while flying in circle I needed to post edit a bit. Nevertheless having an ND PL 32 filter installed and joy to fly all get along with.
The particular day was very windy where the DJI MAVIC 2 PRO did not face any kind of problems.
At the end of the video you will view my best pictures taken during this flight.
