Tell me one thing: why are you flying between the trees? These shots can be taken with a pole-mounted osmo pocket without risk. Then you go and try again in a tight spot among the trees? What if you're not perfect for something, you get stuck in the trees again? You're crazy!

Saved by "RIce-A-Roni, the San Francisco treat!"

The battery coming out might have been good here as there wasn't any power in the spark itself when it got wet. Would not surprise me if the battery itself quits working down the road.

Good luck you get your Spark back. That's a good idea to use rice to dry the drone. Thanks for sharing your story!

Flying spark in narrow space without blade guards is dangerous. I won't risk my drone in that situation. Since all the footage is short, I would use a stick with the Osmo action to do all the tricks on those complicated situations.

My story: I got my spark stolen. I tried to make a new post but it seems that I “have no authority to post new topic”. If anyone can help me... is it possible to locate it by its GPS or block it remotely?

I like to use my drone differently and capture different perspectives. It's what I do and it's fun. The crash happened *after* all the tricky piloting had been done.

You simply would not be able to get a similar dolly zoom shot with an Osmo pocket or similar camera on a pole. You just wouldn't be able to move forward smoothly enough. :-)

I think it was brown basmati. More nutritious. We just had it the other night. Haha.

I don't think you would be able to get a smooth dolly zoom shot like that using a Osmo. It was a pretty small area. You can't really walk in there and nor would I want to as I don't want to trash the place. The Spark can just slide in nice and easy. Too bad I goofed at the end. :-)

Thanks! Yeah, I don't disagree. I only used it because it's readily available and it's worked in the past. Many folks have suggested silica gel packs. The rice bits definitely gum up the works.

A few folks have suggested the Osmo on a stick (pole). I really don't think you would be able to get a smooth dolly shot with that. Also, the space would not be good for traversing on foot and I don't want to damage the natural environment. And, half the fun is maneuvering the Spark to get the shot. I got in and out just fine, the crash happen after when the Spark was just idling and got low on juice. :-)

As for the pop guards, many folks have told me they don't use them "in the wild" because either they had or are worried about getting hung up in trees. It really comes down to whatever works for the individual.
