So I start out saying I won't get technical, then get all technical, in a simplistic way..... And you can find out what ND numbers and F-Stops actaiully mean.

But the main thing is I finally have a variable ND filter I can leave on the M2 Pro pretty much all the time now

Cheers
Ian

Nice, enjoyed the dogs in the background....

They can make editing a real pain if you need to cut a bit as one's walking past, but it's great having them around     Wish I'd had my drones when I lived in NZ many moons ago

I saw the video.  They're interesting but a few queries:-

Most variable NDs, especially cheaper ones, tend to introduce a variable colour cast and tint which can be a nightmare.  Have you got any images of with vs without with a fixed white balance to compare?

Are these working by varying polarising (cheaper ones do) or other methods?  If its the former it can cause exposure issues with panning shots and non-constant dimming as well.

At least the X of doom doesnt seem to be present.  Again have you got any images of a clear sky or full frame white wall etc on max dimming to see?

I've tried variable NDs (real camera) and the concept is great but often let down in practice.  Thats why im skeptical before spending money on them.

Am I right in thinking the freewell filters are labeled with F stops and they relate to ND XX as per this table?

F Stops     ND
1 2
2 4
3 8
4 16
5 32
6 64
7 128
8 256

That appears to be the case.  Good - i dislike the NDxxx designation.  Far more useful to just say the number of stops/ev light reduction.

I believe they're two polarised discs rotating like most variable NDs.
I will take some shots of clear sky or white wall with a fixed white balance for you and post on here......
