Hello everyone!

I got a chance to test and review PGYTECH's ND-PL Set of filters for the Osmo Action!

I tested how correctly they stop down the exposure and if they degrade sharpness. As you can see from the examples below, they do the job amazingly!

In the example above, you can see that they correctly stop down the exposure! Every shot is exposed perfectly with each filter because I've compensated the brightness values with ISO values (since sharpness isn't important in this test). There are a few small differences only due to how the polarizing filter was turned. But as for the color and brightness, they are spot-on!

Then I've taken a 4K video clip, but this time I've kept the ISO values constant to not impact my sharpness and I've changed the shutter speed. After zooming in the shots to 200% scale, you can see that there is no difference with or without the filters!

If you have any questions, feel free to ask here or in the comments of the video!

Thanks a lot for the review. I am really surprised to see PGYTECH opted for a slip on design. As practical as this system is (especially if you need to change filters at inconvenient places), it introduces an extra layer of glass...

True, but as you can see from the review the sharpness is staying the same! The only thing the extra layer of glass introduces is another “spot” in the lens flare. Which in my opinion makes the footage look even more cinematic!

I definitely can see your point.  But at the same time it means a bit less juggling.  Unscrewing the "water proofed sealed" native filter, finding a slot to safely store it and and then screwing on another filter.  Here, I guess, you just slip this one over the native filter and shoot.

Oh, I am definitely pro slip-on Especially with things like ND filters that you change often. And I cannot imagine my clumsy self removing the original cap to put on an ND on a wet, sandy beach...

I am just pleasantly surprised to see it does not degrade the image quality

Cheers,

That's why I was surprised! I prefer "slip-on"s and nice to see that they don't affect the image (apart from the flare)

Cheers,

Just ordered a set since I plan on using this camera a bit more on some upcoming vacations.  The slip on convenience is what sold me!
