So I went out to test new V01.09.00.20 Firmware.
And the improvement is quite impressive.

Edit.mp4_20190921_073319.240.jpg

Phase detection focus got faster and smoother.
It focuses noticeably faster in low light situation.

Edit.mp4_20190921_073159.599-.jpg

Motionlapse focus is also got much sharper.

OSMO Pocket 7th Firmware update.mp4_20190921_082218.270.jpg

Comparing with previous firmwares, focus accuracy in motionlapse shows much better result.

This is all usable improvement in real world situation.

Now please add way point video shooting and way point save option.

Hi Tide.

Super awesome and thorough testing, really appreciated. Those composite shots must be a pain if you’re doing them over time or constantly flashing the FW.

That new wide angle adaptor looks very interesting, will have to check it out.

Thanks again for your time, effort and for sharing.

Cheers,
Dave.

Great test thank you, waypoints yes but I think this may come with new Osmo but we know it’s there with mavic 2 .
I think it’s fair to say OP has received pretty good service to date .

Much appreciate for all the works you've done, I am especially happy that you used the same scenes with the same camera position/angle for all the different version of FW, that is brilliant!

Hi Dave,

I usually test each firmware after update in same spots and now have a small accumulated footages to compare.
I should keep collecting data for future comparison.

Cheers.

I feel like DJI has no reason to release next verion of pocket yet cause there is no competition in this category. Although I like to see Hasselblad 1" version as well.

Thanks @Tide for the helpful test. However, may I know at 2.25 did you used  ND1000 for that motionlapse?. If so, may I know what was the setting?. I've got Freewell ND1000 but my day time footage was overexposed/unusable even with 2 sec shutter and 100 iso. Thanks.

Hi, at 2:25 I used Variable ND filter @ND64 setting.
Camera setting was ISO100, shutter speed 0.75 second.

When I using ND1000 filter in the usual sunny out door, shutter speed usually max at 1 second. Otherwise it over expose.
I could extend shutter speed up to 2 second when there is cloud over sky or sun is about to set.

You can test it by taking photo at the same setting before the timelapse.

Thanks @Tide for the reply. Ok so 2 sec shutter is too much for sunny day even with ND1000 roger that.  But 1 sec shutter like not much motion blur especially for slow movement objects like human. Well how do I take a photo while in timelapse mode, do I need to switch back to photo?. I always do a checking the first photo on Gopro but have no idea with OP though. Thanks

I am taking photo before the timelapse shooting with pocket's photo mode for checking the exposure.

1 second is not enough for overall smooth motion blur the people because some people do stop in the shot.
But you can have better results shooting where people have to keep moving like a road crossing or escalater.

Thanks for the update.

DJI can you completely disable sharpening and noise reduction in Cinelike mode?

We have improved  focus accuracy at motion-lapse mode. Because camera is moving, so focus position is not fix just as timelapse. It is difficult to make a decision to take compensation to the focus. But by your evaluation, I think we reached the effected as we expected.
