Hello, I am a 15 year old pilot and have the Spark and Phantom 3. I also have Final Cut Pro X and Affinity Photo. I have recently been looking into making my hobby profitable. I have a lot of resources to create high quality cinematography with what I have. I just dont know what is the best idea for profit. I have looked into real estate and Etsy as ways to sell my work. Also is there and photography scholarships that I could maybe get for anything related? Any tip helps, thanks!

In which case to profit from the use of US airspace with a UAV you will need to obtain the FAA's part 107 and to be able to take the necessary test you need to be at least 16 years old.

I have already studied for the license, thanks, I was just looking for ideas/concepts I could start trying now so I can make money off them once I do get my license.

To make money you will need to establish a business portfolio, advertise your brand, obtain commercial insurance plans for you, your equipment and third party bodily injury and/or property damage all of which to take place after passing the 107 exam.

Then with your business model in place and taxation organised you can branch out into many specialisms such as weddings, map surveying, professional aerial photography, real estate - just be mindful that there will be thousands of already established professionals with drones like Inspire 2's already doing it for years so be sure to check out competition in your local area first.

Ok thanks a lot for the help I will definitely look into it. I should be upgrading my drone soon so I would have less competition!

Good for you and great to see you taking forward your hobby to the next level - I wish you all the best. Just one more thing though - the drones are tools for the job - a novice with an Inspire 2 X7 will produce inferior work to a seasoned aerial cinematographer with almost any drone! Get plenty of experience with what you have then upgrade when you feel ready and your clients need more.

Thanks again! I have mastered flying all of my drones right now I think I have enough experience to upgrade! I started from air hogs and am now looking to purchase the Mavic! Happy flying!
