im getting towards the end lol i will have to start uploading my tech scuba videos lol
ive still got one or two left to edit !

when i go out i pre plan runs and shots in my head and simply get the drone in the air and start recording i simply leave the recording on until i land. i have had occasions where i done a fantastic shot only to realise i hadnt turned on the record button lol! so now whilst in the air its recording all the time in 4k


i always carry 4 x 64 gig cards to film and they are the micro sd fast steam versions so they can record massive bitrates

I don't post 4K a lot, so I don't have a lot of experience with it. But noticed on the latest 4K upload.

does seem weird although i dont encode the videos in full 4k its just bellow as many people dont have the equiptment to view it! i encode at 3840 x 2160 25,30 or 60 fps

Never dove into that matter. But I remember the 4K standards are a bit vague depending on who you ask

because i author the clips into sections with music and colour grading it makes sense to encode it in a format that will give the best quality ! obviously as it stands full 4 k is the highest but not always the best to use, as ive found it can be very juddery even on my computer so always go for the encoding size just below and playback at 1440 x 1080.

They have not found the 'one size fits all' solution I guess.

im constantly striving to get it right and every video has its own challenges ! whilst i accept my work isnt the best shot footage i try to make it eastetically pleasing to the eye. ive never been a lover of very dark footage i love vibrant colour especially in nature.

As a uav pilot footage is very subjective and you find yourself being governed by things like battery time location and weather. so a lot of the time you dont get the footage you want and make the best of what uve got ! and totally agree not everyone likes the same thing thats what makes drone footage so unique

Most of my shots I have to take at least twice because I don't like the first try.
But that is ok.
I have 3 batteries and usually only time for 1 location

Ok, we have a different approach.
I have 3 batteries (also about 1 hour of flight time)
I usually use the first battery to try out things.
If I like what I'm seeing, but am not happy with the shot, I fly back and make another go
And repeat until I'm happy.
Usually I end up with some ideas that I could not capture with this battery.
So I fly back, swap the battery and try to capture those ideas as well.
If there is still power left, I fly to a different location OR I switch to photography and either use the remaining power to try out the new location (same method) or take stills.
The last battery is used when there is still something left that I want to capture (either still or video).
I used to bring hours and hours of footage, but I stopped doing that.
Waste of my time in the editing process.
Now I just fly back when I feel I have to.

yes i see where your coming from whilst i see your direction its great that we all have different ways to achieve great things. i take stills off the videos i dont purposefull take normal pictures anymore. as i get what i need from the video! and you can get the exact shot you want without having to set a perfect shot up !

Yeah, that is what I like about this forum (one of the things).
Reading about different ways to be creative.
Learning new methods

I personally almost only use AEB bracketing nowadays (most subjects I shoot have to high contrast to overcome in one exposure).
So that rules out frame grabbing for me
But I totally get what you are doing with that!
