If you had the choice, and the price not the issue, which of the Mavic 2 would you get?

Although the Pro has a so called better camera I prefer the zoom not much editing to be done on videos and photos, the zoom function is amazing and can get really close up to an object from far away, also have seen a few issues with the Pro on some forums but issues with the zoom are far and few.

I need bigger picture.

The zoom is for me.

as I'm more into still photography, I choose the pro. If I was more in videography ... I think the zoom got some more options. Making a choice is a question of what is your main purpose for it.

The M2Z makes great videos and I like that the camera zooms.

The M2Z works best for me, makes some tricky commercial jobs a bit easier with the Zoom.

But I think the Zoom wins for me.
The ability to zoom (optical) to 50mm is a real gamechanger!

If you want to take photos then go for the pro.

Anything approaching low light ... Pro.

Both are great drones - if you're in to stills more than video then I'd say the pro but the ability to zoom is a great feature

It has a crop in 4K which kind of zooms and you can of course crop in post if zoom is important to you needs - I personally prefer the ability to adjust the aperture in flight and have a sensor four times larger for improved low light performance with the addition of 20 vs. 12 mp stills but each to their own.

M2pro pictures are great so is video colour is pretty accurate even at a distance, shame there is no optical zoom but then there would be no need for the m2zoom. Perhaps dji could bring out a new camera module (they both work on either drone) with a nice 10x zoom with a 40 mpixel on a full size sensor for a reasonable price. No need for a new drone then. Dream on.

Go the whole hog and make it 12k video. 8k is ... so ... 2019. Already old hat. Double figs is where it is.

actually, you can swap camera/gimbal assembly from zoom to pro and vice versa (from maybe some crashed drone etc). it's not official and you probably loose warranty and all that, but could be done..

and by the way m2p does have kind of zoom, it's called crop mode (and video is actually sharper in this mode). if they could upgrade firmware, so ff and crop mode would be swappable just by some dedicated button, it would be almost like having a zoom (without zooming), i guess..

even 4k is still overkill to heavy post-processing on majority of regular hardware today. for 8, 12 or even 16k you would need a lot more cash than just for drone alone..

The larger sensor and even more so the variable aperture are why I decided to go for the pro.

I’ve had a spark, 2 mavic airs, mavic 2 zoom and a mavic Pro platinum. I think the platinum was the best. Mavic 2 has connection issues no matter where I fly.

Imo, if you are video shooting day time, the M2Z is better because you can focal length strafe and yaw, which adds an awesome dimension to the clip that you cannot get from a fixed focal length.  Don't bother using the M2Z at night; it's not usable at all once it gets dark.  The M2Z also is great for getting the reach you need, inspection work, for example.

The difference in image quality during the day, video-wise is nearly the same.  Photo quality, the M2P is better of course.
