This time it's the section between Graiguenamanagh and St Mullins. The walk is about 4 miles each way but there is a café in St Mullins where you can stop for a break before returning.

Me too, they're all still in full working order and very busy at the height of summer. Even at this time of year I managed to get a couple of boats into the video. Unfortunately the actual operation of the lock had already been done and I was only able to capture the boat leaving. I'd like to do a time-lapse of  a boat negotiating the lock, but that will be for next year .

There are lots of canals in the UK mainland. Here in Northern Ireland we don't have any to speak of, but travelling south to The Republic of Ireland, which I do several times a year, I have the chance to visit them. There is also plenty of other great scenery to visit as well, so I'm spoilt for choice.

The full Barrow Way hiking trail takes around 4 days but I have no plans to try and complete it over a couple of days the way a number of people do. Instead I found a great bed & breakfast place in the area and travel down with friends two or three times a year where we do part of the walk, along with a number of other touristy things. There are some great mountain and coastal hikes to be done as well and the area has many traditional Irish pubs and restaurants as well as gardens, castles, monastic sites, distilleries and breweries. We're actually spoilt for choice when it comes to activities.

I plan on taking my Mavic Pro there at some point to get some footage. As it was I already had three cameras, and that kept me occupied enough.

And the best part of it was that I have done that as a child to.
So we re created my (good) memories, but now with our own kids.
