If you haven't already updated your DJI Smart Controller to the latest version of DJI Go 4 (currently v4.3.25), I put together a quick tutorial on how to do so.  It is super quick and painless to do.  I've been flying with it for over a week now and have had good success with it.



Unfortunately, I tried the same process on the CrystalSky and the installer failed each time I tried it.

Thanks for the kind words.  I agree, much easier not having to mess with the SD card.  That's the way I did it the first time when I went to .24, but found this method much easier.

i wish i could test this since im almost a pro at fault finding... but smart controller pricing is just.....too much for my situation, i dont make enough money from occasional  stuff i do with mydrone for people to justify the expense.

if it was $499 i would probably have gotten a smart controller and would probably loved it.  but at $700+ current pricing here in the US,..nope, ill stick to my iPads and iPhones

Yep, that would be great!   I just hope they support it and update it more frequently and for a longer period than they’ve appeared to do for the CrystalSky.

Begs the question if you can just install the app yourself why hasnt DJI released it already properly.

Apparently not.  

I personally would much rather them spend their engineering time on something way more worthwhile when there is such an easy solution.

Unfortunately, it seems like DJI has abandoned the beta version that implements this support.  They stopped responding months ago to anything related to the beta, including requests to be added to it.

Firstly, this is a bit of a moot issue because DJI has released a new firmware update that has a newer version of DJI Go 4 than the one discussed in the video.  I'd recommend updating to the latest firmware instead.  

Having said that, I will disagree with your opinion on this.  The recommendation to update to the latest APK from the DJI website came directly from DJI Support.  I just provided the easiest method to make that happen.  

Also, there is a very large number of people that used this process very successfully without problems.  That includes myself.  I had a huge number of flights using the version of Go 4 discussed in this video without any issues at all.  In fact it worked much better than the previous version I upgraded from.

To be clear, the CS does not allow this to work because it apparently does need a special version.  If DJI didn't want this method to work, their support team would not have recommended it and the SC would not allow it to work.

David, Were you able to update to V4.3.32. When I tried to download from DJI it said file corrupted?

I only see v4.3.28 mentioned on the DJI download page discussed in the video.  This is the same version that is already installed with the latest SC firmware version.
