Hi.  Looking for some recommendations from you pros.
I was video recording, and my MMP crashed.   I am unable to view the video file.
The video appears corrupt, yet the size of the video still shows about 2.5 Gb.
Has anyone had a problem with a video file, and later fixed it?

Some info:   My Mavic Pro Plat. was recording video and hit a building on it’s RTH due to loss of signal.  Yes, obstacle avoidance was on!     I got the Drone back.
The video file of this flight is corrupt, and I can’t review the video.  I sure would love to get access to the video.
I mainly use a Mac computer.  On the memory card, I have previous photos and videos, and I can view them with no problem using the built in Preview, or Quick Time player.
I even used Final Cut Pro X, and even this program is unable to import the video.

What I believe happened is the battery came off the drone when it hit the building, and the video file was never closed down properly.  The file attributes show the Time/Date, and a size of about 2.5 Gb.  It’s just that none of the video programs can read the file now.
I have seen tons of Drone “Crash Compilations” on You Tube, so I am wondering how they were able to access their video when the file wasn’t closed out properly due to the crash also.

Any help or recommendations greatly appreciated.
~ Thank you.

Never thought it would happen to me.  :>(.

Thank you very much.   I gave it a shot, but no luck.
The program ran for a few minutes, and generated a "my file_repaired" file.
The program recommend using a video player VLC, or IINA.
I tried both, but had no luck.   Darn.

It was a good try.
Thanks anyway for the suggestion.

Did you get a file of comparable size to the original and what filename extension did it have?

Hi.  Thanks.

The original file (2.97 Gb)
DJI_0089.MOV

The added "repaired" file (also 2.97 Gb)
DJI_0089-repaired.h264

The "IINA" video player was "almost"
Had a green screen, with some random pixels changing color.
Nothing usable thou.
So close...

I'm not a video expert, but it seemed like it almost got it.
Thank you very much for your time and feedback.
Sure would love to see what happened on that video.  :>o.

Hi.  Thanks.

The original file (2.97 Gb)

If you were okay with it, and happy for a 3rd party to have a look at it, by uploading the original to a cloud service like dropbox - and PM'ing the link - I could have a technical look at the data. It does sound like you have a usable stream of video data in the file, but the header info is corrupted and/or completely missing. So it may still be possible to transcode from the first good segment onwards - save out the result (much as you have done with that app) - but in a correct byte order (big-endian versus little-endian). Happy to help if you want to give it a try.

Hi.  I’m sorry, but I just noticed you post, and very generous offer to look at the file.
Thank you anyway.  I don’t want to put anyone out.
I was just hoping to find out why and how the drone hit a building on RTH when the obstacle Avoidance was on.
Anyway, thank you again for the offer.

Ah you might find that info in the detailed flight log - have a look around this forum for how to do that.
