Hello,

So I'm kinda new to this and have a few questions. A little back ground on the flight mission. I'm doing runway inspections for my local Airport. My runway is 18-36 and has an elevation gain of 40 feet over the span of 6000 feet. I have preset 6 waypoints each space at 1000 feet. and drone logged homepoint on the south end at 100 feet altitude. When we conducted the flight we failed to account for the elevation gain on the runway. So, my question is this. when I preset a flight course and edit the waypoints (example waypoint #1 is set to 100ft altitude, waypoint #2 is set at 120ft altitude.) will the drone fly from waypoint #1 at 100ft hit waypoint 2 and ascend to 120ft (stair step pattern)? Or, will it gradually gain altitude as it flies between the 2 waypoints?

Thanks for your help with this.

it will interpolate (rise to next waypoint elevation gradually along the course between them) not stair-step

if you actually wanted it to stair-step, you'd need to have 2 waypoints at different elevations for each step.

Okay, you may have confused me. Do you mean if I wanted the stair step (which I don't) that the waypoints would need to be as follows: way point #1 at 100ft, then for the second way point it would be fly to way poin tat 100ft then ascend to another point that is stacked corrected?

I think this is the Interpolate correct? Waypoint #1 100ft, #2 at 110ft, #3 120ft.......ect..

The Interpolate of points is what I'm looking for. Ideal flight would be starting at 100ft elevation and 6000ft later finish at 150ft elevation with smooth transition in altitude.

Yes I was saying that if you wanted stair-step you'd do:

WP1: 100 ft
WP2: 100 ft
WP3: 110 ft (same XY location as WP2, just different Z; or "stacked" as you put it)
WP4: 110 ft
WP5: 120 ft (same XY location as WP4, just different Z)
etc.

But if you do this:
WP1: 100 ft
WP2: 110 ft
WP3: 120 ft
WP4: 130 ft
etc.

You should get a smooth flight with constantly increasing altitude between waypoints.

Cheers Mate,

Just wanted to reach out to you and say think you for your advice. I have conducted several flights using the info you provided and it works like a champ.
