Will Mavic Mini KIll Mavic Air is a question I have seen in many previous videos about DJI Mavic Mini


I will try to answer this and share how I see who has the upper hand.

Nope...not even in the same ballpark!  Mavic Air is by far the better drone....

Hi. Maybe not but definitely I will buy it if all leaked specs will be correct. I do not need any sensors for obstacles and 4k camera. But less than 250g or flying time around 30min and good camera even 1080p is enough for my home use

That would make it for me too as a good supplement to my Mavic 2 Pro and for talking on vacations

my pleasure I know nothing has been confirmed yet, but it fuels some pretty good discussions about upcoming DJI releases :-)

I think it's more of a Spark replacement than anything.

They would all be top if the transfer type would be that of the MP. Everything else is a no go for me. I had a Spark ...

It looks good Henrik but I won't be swapping my mavic air in for a mavic mini. I still think the air is far superior in every respect.

this is what im thinking.  only thing spark has over the leaked mavic mini's specs is avoidance systems, everything else appears to be an upgrade, while at same time if you compare it to a mavic air, looks more like a downgrade in many ways,

Since the sensors (do not miss them) and the rc are very economical, it can be the reason for the low price...

I have the M2P and dont need a drone like this,  but if I was travelling to a country where I cannot fly the M2P but could fly the mini, I would get one if the price was right.

Obviously NOT. 2.7K isn't sufficient for many folks and I do hope it has obstacle avoidance, otherwise it is a downgrade from the Spark...
*all this based on the leak rumors of course.

Nice video.  I'll hang on to my Mavic Air, at least for now.

I think it is meant to replace the Spark.

That's right. It's been like that for a month or two I believe.

It's a shame if the Mavic Air turns out to be still better, even though it's so old now...

Looks like Newegg’s Canadian store jumped the gun on their retail notification of the Mavic Mini  Here's the specs.  A quick google search will give you the link.  Yes, it did come in at 249 grams!  

    249g Ultralight
    30-min Max. Flight Time
    4 km HD Video Transmission
    Vision Sensor + GPS Precise Hover
    3-Axis Gimbal 2.7K Camera
    Simplified Recording & Editing

This is another “leaked” spec sheet which is different to what other say...so don’t know what the truth is.

My main concern is how a sub 250gm model will fair in the wind.  I’m amazed at how stable the spark is in high wind and as long as the mini is as good and the price is right, it’s a strong contender as my next drone.  I was holding out for the Air, but I’m pretty happy with the spark already, i only want longer battery and 3 axis gimbal.    4K is hear nor there for me...youtube is only 1080 anyway and still extremely good quality

All folks here "not caring" about obstacle avoidance will be posting (while crying) how they crashed / lost their drone in a  few weeks... I don't know what the sensors weigh BUT I would prefer to have 10mn less flight time and include some front ones at least.

Agree, at a minimum should have front sensors.  

Can't wait for it, 22 hours more to go

First of all, your tone is out of place, we aren't buddies. I am not asking for your opinion on my purchase. Please fell free to comment on the upcoming drone and your expectations. I talked generally and not targeting any specific mini prospect.
2nd, I have a Mavic 2 Pro, I don't need a Mavic Air. In addition, the Mavic Air is still expensive and will probably remain more expensive than the Mini.

What I want is a better Spark with 2020 specs. 4K and collision sensors shouldn't be so difficult to implement specially if they can pull 30mn of flight time with this thing. IMO, the specs are crippled so people with a mindset like yours get a Mavic Air that is already a 2 year old drone. Obviously a 250gr drone has limitations but it should have been possible.

ps. I hope you are not one of the guys that will come here crying... you will get the same answer: You should have gotten a Mavic Air.

Unreasonably unfriendly ... relative to the headline and your comments the statement "to buy an Air" was not wrong. I'm curious about what's coming tomorrow and I don't do it bad today.

This isn't a replacement for the Air, it's half the price. It's a replacement for the Spark.

It will kill both the spark and the mavic air
