The former is heavier at 100 grams, and is a Li-ion 2S cell, while the latter has a weight of just 50 grams and is a LiPo 2S cell.  The smaller battery offers a maximum flight time of 18 minutes while the larger one will take you up to 30 minutes. From the website it doesn't state what batteries are supplied with the packages?

The 50 gram battery is the Japan version, because in Japan they have a restriction of I believe 200 grams (Where you have to register your drone.) The small batteries are for Japan only!

It will not work with googles is I understand it  

I’m also waiting for some “regular joe” reviews. Fantastic form factor, will patiently wait until things die down and more info is released. Good job thus far DJI.

46.8 km/h, 3000m, 4km video range (MT1SS5 model by the looks, FCC version, not Eu version). Also higher if you change props to compensate for altitude (more pitch or 3 or 4 blade or both).

DJI, please update the firmware to allow DNG. And then you will have a sale.. and many more.

If not included already:  burst capture including for DNG (like 10 shots etc), AEB, panorama mode (doesn’t need to stitch in drone, just rotate and tilt drone and take shots for later stitching).

Don’t know if they’re auto switching but it does say different models on the spec page and different frequencies, and it would be both the drone and controller, the video transmission power from the drone would be reduced, and the control transmission power from the controller would be reduced too for CE

4k depends on if the cpu/processor can handle it. My guess is it probably can. We’ll know when someone tears it down what processor inside.

If 4K was enabled it would compete with their more expensive drones.

Sorry if this is a dumb question but I'm thinking about getting my first drone.  How does not having obstacle avoidance work when doing programmed shots like dronie, circle, or when landing?  Could the drone just fly backwards into something and crash?

Coming from the Spark this looks very interesting. But I have a few questions that I could not find an answer to:

1. Can it do photosheres or panoramas?
2. When using sport mode, will it tilt the camera  occasionally like the spark or will it continue to film smoothly?
3. Will there be exposure lock for video?
4. Will white balance and exposure be available for video, too?

Yep and I keep thinking about its weight. Don't you guys think it will be less wind resistant?

A drone under 250gms is definitely a winner.
As others have mentioned, it would be nice to have the choice of the larger battery.

I'm willing to pay quite a bit more for better hardware and software... Dji drones seems to be more advanced the bigger they get, it doesn't have to be like this... Just my opinion.

Very portable it seems

I guess the selling points are the 249g and the 30 min flight time, seems like they sacrificed a lot to reach that weight, won't the aircraft go over 250g with the prop guards on ?

If you don’t mind 51 grams more and the fact that it doesnt fold, and 1080 instead of 2.7k ( which you Probably won’t notice anyway, And 2 axis gimbal instead of 3 axis, I whould say you get a lot of cool festures on the Spark, for a beginner,  that it seems the mavic mini doesn’t have:

Frontal obstacle avoidance
Several intelligent flight modes
AEB photos
Panorama, etc
Manual settings of shutter speed, iso (I don’t know if the mini has that).

There are a lot of cheap sparks around for sale now.

In muy opinion the mini is way too stripped of features, which for me would make too boring to fly.

I guess this is an updated spark. Is it equipped with avoidance systems?

Great to see a camera drone of this quality under 250g!
