Rule number 1: DJI is always right.
Rule number 2: If DJI is wrong, rule number 1 automatically comes into force.

It looks like a hardware error.
One of the ESC's had a fault and could not deliver enough power to the engine. The copter then left GPS mode and went into ATTI mode. If he had not flown against an obstacle, you might have landed it. Your bird was already try to make a AutoLanding. Send the log to DJI Customer Service and ask for goodwill.
