Instagram will be taking down the Like button, to remove the contest like atmosphere.

Now I'm wondering, about the similar practice being done on our pages.

Hello DJI? Are you listening... This might be a consideration here, on the forum.

I know on other forums, where there are similar devices of honour or dishonourable recognition, some folks have feelings which are questionable.
Seems like a pointless idea, without a comment or submission of improvement. Friendly support, rather than just a negativity thing.
If a helpful suggestion, written in a polite and concise with consideration of manner, still gets a down vote, then??

That's just low down self esteem.

I agree, it should be removed here or, only used for DJI competition threads only, the system is being abused on here purely for bullying purposes

I don't see much evidence of it getting abused in the forums.  It is generally only one or two votes either way.  I generally only upvote a comment if I strongly agree with it and it saves me adding another redundant post with the same sentiments.  The downvotes tend to indicate a comment which is widely off the mark or contains very wrong information.  Arguments can get heated here, but it is painfully obvious when one of those is in progress.  No need to resort to checking up/down votes to influence opinion.

I would have liked to have seen huge numbers of upvotes for people that post the ultimate solution to the problem or who spend a lot of time analysing flight records for others (wink wink).  It is a nice "thank you" show of appreciation for the effort.  Besides all of that, the more upvotes you get, the more they can be cashed in for credit at the DJI store.  Many people are unaware of that.  It would be great to see a comment with 100+ votes on it, both in $$ terms but as a show of appreciation by the community.

This all goes in the face of my general philosophy of contempt for facebook-type systems of likes/dislikes and friends.  Seems rather childish to me.  Not so much as a "thank you" but more of a judgement by the anonymous masses.

Youre kidding? i have seen multiple times where a member is constantly receiving negative votes for no reason at all.

I agree that someone might get negged aggressively in a thread every time they open their mouth, but I was referring to each comment only attracts one or two votes.  I don't consider that abuse, although if they rack up a dozen or so in total throughout the thread, that might qualify.  I don't see it for "no reason at all", it is either really obvious that they are talking out of their rear and it is a sign that they are really wrong or a troll, or someone strenuously disagrees with their position.  I can't really think of an example where I couldn't figure out why they were downvoted.

Reply 4 and 7 in this thread is a prime example, this is off the top of my head because i only noticed it the day before this thread was put up,  I cannot see any reason for the guy to get the down vote, except for someone not liking them, thats normally been brought about because they fell out over an opinion.

As for hunting through all the threads for other examples, never gonna happen, the regular members know there are some that down vote purely because that person is not liked due to whatever reason

Thats what i class as abuse, but if bullying isnt abuse then i dont know what is

Wow, someone downvoted both of his suggestions.

That’s pretty pathetic man...  Yes, I see where that could lead to someone feeling insulted.

It truly depends on the context of the post, what was written, and there, where nothing negative or untrue was spoken, still getting shot down.  Reminds me of “ill gotten gains”. In a different light.

Spiteful and juvenile.

Thanks for pointing that out.

I tend to try and mostly ignore those “user friendly” options here. ;-)
