Quite a few years ago there was a Phantom pilot who used to post on PP occasionally - she was in Alaska.  She insisted she has flown many times in temps in the -15 F range.   That's cold!

OTOH, I haven't seen her posts lately.  I wonder why?

i am so impressed not only did you have fantastic control getting that bird through the trees but you are flying in a full snow storm ! i take my hat off to a superior flyer

ISO: 100 / f2.8 / 1/15sec.

does the camera struggle with snow and over exposure ? and do you use a nd filter or maybe a poloriser to cut the glare from snowy surfaces?

really nice images of the power line inspection ! and sure you said for a minute you where in california! have they ever had snow on the coast lol

On very rare occasions it has snowed on the beach. But of course, it doesn't stay long.
I live in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. They are quite majestic.
I didn't post process those pics at all they could be enhanced. I kinda like the contrast.

There used to be a fellow here from Grise Fiord.
His name was jeffrey qaunaq
There the average yearly temperature is −16.5 °C
He flew all the time, even in the 'winter'

Haven't seen him around lately.

His input has been missed. Much like you, yours, :-)

No exposure problems, use manual exposure only, I do not use nd filter in low light, and I only use polarizer during fall color.

wonderful video buddy lovely clarity too ? you live here ? looks like a place that has big spiders and snakes that rattle lol what altitude where you at if you dont mind me asking ! almost looks like your in a helicopter

Thank you and Yes sir, that’s a flight from my driveway. And yes theirs lots of all those things you mentioned. If it doesn’t sting you, prick you, bite you or kill you it doesn’t live here. I typically fly at about 350 feet AGL which can get you to the limits of the altitude at 1600 feet on this flight rather quickly. Even though legal you can’t make it to the top of the high peaks. I wish they’d didn’t have that limit in place as lots of legal flying could be done here at well about 1600 feet from where you took off. Thanks again, have a great weekend !

I am summising your in the usa? so i take it you have a 400 feet limmit like we do in the uk ? or out in the wilderness you can fly as high as the bird will go?

Makes a lot of sense and whilst i do use auto exposure i tend to use spot exposure somewhere between the horizon and the ground so it picks up the detail and the cloud formations in the sky!

as ive said before i love landscape or sea but i love water too sea lake or reservoir like the one below. Which incidently is not a winter video showing the level of exposure i try to get.

Yes sir in Arizona. Same here as the UK, 400 AGL is the max legal altitude we can fly.

I fly more when its cooler, i hate leaving my dogs at home too long on their own so i rarely go out for long during summer months so that includes no droning the majority of the time, anything under about 20C and its fair game but as a rule, i am out about 75% more from Autumn Through til mid Spring and i still cant fly for :poop: oh, its not FB ;)  PS, i will never manage my pfco, i have practised the figure 8 many times and still lose it, normally on the cross over and emergency gps mode initiated lol

I won’t post YouTube videos because I don’t like Google...

Yes winter is bitter here. But somehow we seem to survive it, year after year.

Over here survival very much depends. Not just about the usual stuff like, age, health and location.  Often we hear from the likes of train companies that it is the wrong type of snow, or we didnt expect snow (in the winter) so that why the trains were delayed, cancelled or crashed. Where you live RHP no doubt all the providers expect snow and cold temperatures and are ready for it.
Of course we have the same problems in autumn, "wrong sort of leaves on the line" and of course summer "Phew, what a scorcher, our rails are bent"

Tis a good point, harsher climates are prepared as the more extremes are expected, where as here in the UK, our 1st sign that the UK Winter is going to be a warm one is when this is published
UK heavy snow alert: Britain faces COLDEST winter in decades - long-range weather forecast
As seen every single year, just the wording slightly changes and its always the same drivvle from the same reporter, odds favour him to be right at least once in his career, so if he keeps writing it every year, one year he will be right.

Even Scotland is more prepared than England because its more likely than not to be a cold winter...
I myself prefer to fly when its snowed, the scenery is more favourable, Autumn is another fave but its wasted around here as the forest is a nfz as professed by the National Forest...
