These are concrete "lighters", used in WW2 initially to move fuel and cargo behind naval ships, and then later they were to deployed as part of the Mulberry harbour for the D Day landings.

Sadly these ones have long been abandoned on the foreshore of the Thames River just outside London.

Very cool pic. Crazy that they're still just sitting around. There's got to be more to their story. But very cool image and history.

I see. Still cool. Similar to a spot in Minnesota that has the concrete skeletons of buildings that were used during WWII to produce gunpowder. Never torn down because the ground is contaminated from chemicals they used.

That is UMore Park. I believe there are some towers up there but I don't think you can see them from Hwy 42 so I'm not exactly sure where they are.

I think there are a lot up the thames and medway. Certainly around the forts they seem to be using them as break waters to stop erosion of the marshland that the forts are on.

And I know of a piece of the mulberry harbour thats sand off shoebury beach.

I boat fish pieces of mulberry from brighton marina , quite a few bits sank on the way over for dday cause of the bad weather
