Are we sure this doesn't actually slow down loading of the batteries? The charging brick gets pretty hot while simply loading one battery, it seems to already be working at capacity. I'm using 220V sockets if it makes any difference.

No, not sure about that. But this way, you make sure the remote is charged from the start, and not the last item as if it was just hooked up
