Is it a common issue that it takes a long time (3-5 minutes) for outdoors, clear space GPS lock, even in areas previously flown within a few minutes? In comparison, my M2P and Mavic get a lock very quickly. i've had the problem since I purchased the Mini about a month ago.

Yes, I've noticed the same!

When I first got my mini I had fast GPS lock to 11sats but it said my altitude was 30ft in my living room. I calibrated the IMU and it fixed my altitude issue but now it takes a long time to connect inside and outside to 8/9sats. I had a stronger and quicker signal before calibrating my IMU.

Just thought I would report my findings.

I can understand it taking longer for sat lock inside. Shoot, I've never had sat lock inside my home because of metal siding. But outside in clear view of the sky, you wouldn't think it should take more than a minute, maybe 2 tops. But I noticed mine was slow the other day. Probably took 4 minutes to lock onto 11 sats.

I have noticed it takes a while but maybe minute and half, I’ve noticed it staying red for a little longer than what I’ve been used to.
Maybe there is a smaller less powerful receiver in the Mavic mini .

80% of the time mine takes around 30-45 seconds. 20% 10-20 seconds outside! and that is after the A/C is connected to the R/C.

My one took more than 1:30min after the 0.300 update, in an open space and...it's consistently like that.

Anyway I think it depends on having the skyview free or obstructed by, say, buildings around. If partially obstructed, you have to wait a while to lock in the satellites signal.

Indoor I never had enough signal, and neither for MM nor for my phone GPS ...  anyway I know the way at home!!!!!

GPS lock in a very wide open space definitely takes longer, almost twice as long since last firmware update.  DJI needs to take a close look at this.

I've noticed this, too.  It is slow to acquire satellites.  And that's in open areas with no nearby obstructions.

I don't have experience with other drones, but compared to hiking-type gps units or phones, it's quite slow, sort of like old-school GPS units when you "woke them up" after traveling a long distance with them shut off, and they needed to completely orient themselves.

I noticed that it will aquire signal faster while in flight and not landed. So i raise the drone to 2-3m height in atti mode and wait fot sat lock. Usually it takes no more than 20 sec this way.

I think Cap0ne is right. I am not recommending taking off without having sat lock though. But I have noticed that once I get 10 sats locked and I then get up in the air about 20 or 30 feet, I gain 3 or 4 more.

This is still persistent as of 1.04, slow gps acquisition.

Now that I have updated to 1.0.4 firmware it seems like I get a bit faster GPS lock than I did on 1.0.3.  Happy New Year all.
