Hi Guys,
Do you mind if I post a technical question here, even if it sounds a bit odd.
.
We have 2 Mavic 2 Pro drones, which we hoped would produce identical images, but they don’t when reviewing side by side.

On one drone the images look noticeablely further away.

We also noticed that on one drone the image in the screen looked zoomed in?

So questions.

If both drones were at exactly the same height , by indicated altitude on the controller, why do the images differ so much?

I presume the measured altitude is recorded from barometric pressure? Is there much tolerance, ie +/- accuracy?

Can the M2 Pro actually zoom it’s view in?

If any one has any bright ideas where we might have missed something we are all ears?

Thanks in advance guys!

Any chance of posting images for comparison?

Cheers Bud, will see what we can do, but the client does not want us to share.

Might have to do a new set of videos to compare.

From what I remember, there are 2 options in M2P that tell how you read the sensor data.
Something with pixel binning. (or not)
The one that makes a 100% readout usus a smaller portion of the sensor, so it will look zoomed in (a little)

Wow mountfooj, that’s good to know, I’m sure that might help.

But doesn’t that only relate to the readout on the flight logs, anot the actual picture recorded?

For this job the client only needed video so we don’t have any pictures to compare.

If I can give a comparison explanation of the video output in might help.

The shots taken were almost directly overhead, so NADIR to all purposes.

From Mavis 2P No1 the frame includes 10 cars from the left to right of the image. So east - west.

From Mavic 2P No2 the frame includes 13 cars from left to right of the image so east weest.

Does that explain it better?

Thanks in advance guys.

However we think we have found the problem

As per your reference to pixel binning, it looks like it’s related to the FOV, so despite the settings being the same on both drones it seems one is not the same as the other.

It also explains the barrel distortion too,mad the higher FOV setting in 10bit Dlog also introduces the barrel distortion, but I’m sure we can correct that with DaVinci resolve.
