While I am waiting to get a more upscale smartphone (64-bit on a 64-bit enabled network), I have been flying my Mini 'blind' (with no telemetry or visual indicators from the drone camera). When I am doing this, I wonder...

A) Is there any way to force initiate an IMU/compass calibration?

B) If I power on the drone, let it bind to the controller and then hold the drone in the positions required for IMU/compass calibration, will the drone sense what I'm trying to do and perform an autonomous calibration, based on the physical position of the drone (and no operator-induced command to calibrate)?

Probably not

I believe you may have the opportunity to do this thru the pc interface?? (if there is one). I don't have a Mini, but I would think so.
But, with the strange roll out of the Mini, and the Fly app, ......dunno.
during the interim of your new device, maybe you can borrow one of your friends devices????
