My VO got cold on me. I wanted to do more but alas, they abandoned me in my time of nerdy, lol. We’re going to go back tonight and try to to something different and of course more of it too!!

I don’t really see it as an attempt really. It was my first night flight, I was nervous, plus my crew was bailing on me so really I accomplished what I wanted. I don’t think it’s terrible for a beginning recreational Ariel camera person, lol

No honestly well done. I am quite envious as where I live its quite cold so my flights are on hold for some time.

Good job Jody! Now drop height to 100’ AGL and grab some closeup footage

I imagine it is quite cold in Canada!! I didn’t take it that you meant anything negative. To be honest, I am a little jealous of some of the folks skills on here. Knowing how to setup a story and how to capture and present it. I have a lot to learn and I know that so that’s what I’m doing a little bit at a time, reading and watching others and learning!! I take anything anyone says constructively too!! I hope you get a chance to get some flight in soon!!!

Thanks David! We are planning on going back tonight, weather permitting and my crew (my fiancé) better prepared for the cold. And that’s the plan to get more and better footage. My plan last night was to start lowering down as I got closer in but it didn’t work out that way, lol!!

I think so Hallmark007. I told my VO (my fiancé) that if I had strapped a cell phone to a drone and recorded with that it would have been very grainy. I’m actually quite impressed with how it looks at night!!

A little scary too flying at night so I understand keeping the altitude gives you peace of mind.

Absolutley. I spent a little bit of time scouting to make sure of power line locations and other stands of trees. I probably could have lowered down a bit, but I played it safe, I'm not going to lie about it

That was my intention. Being my first night flight, I was using a visual observer (my fiancé) long story short, she got cold so I had to cut the flight short and didn’t get to fully execute my plan. I appreciate your advice though. All advise is welcome!!

I don’t want to be a party crasher but you should know your basics. No nighttime UAV flights allowed in the US unless you have a FAA waiver, Mavic Mini or not.  I's a pricey fine...https://www.airmap.com/rules-to-fly-recreational-drones/
