Video is extremely choppy and I also lose transmission signal. Have tried messing with the settings no luck also cleaned out the gimball connectors  and video is still the same regardless of altitude. The drone also disconnects randomly while in flight

Did you try to shut down all nonessential background processes? Better to open your iphone in airplane mode.  :] Do the videos in SD card got smooth playback?
