Hi,

The first time I logged onto this forum, I used my google account to create the profile I'm currently posing from.  I log in with google - I did NOT create a new dji username and password.  This forum provides both Google and Facebook as valid external auth options.  However, when trying to use the DJI Fly app, I now get stuck in a loop.

  • There is no apparent Google Acct option when logging into the fly app.
  • If I try to register an actual DJI acct, it sees that my email is already used - because it is.
  • If I click on forgot password, it tells me the email isn't valid.
  • How can an email already exists and also be an invalid email?  Because the FLY app doesn't support the same external auth providers the forum does.


So, am I not able to use the fly app with my primary email address since I used it with Google Auth on these forums?  When can external auth providers be added to the fly app to prevent this?

In relation to the DJI Fly app and probably other DJI apps, the account process appears to be broken if you do the initial login/account creation on this forum with Google or presumably any of the other external auth providers.

Here are the steps to reproduce:
  • Come to this forum with no DJI account.
  • Choose to login the first time with Google.
  • Logging in with the Google account creates your DJI acct tied to that external auth email.
  • You now have a DJI account associated with your external auth email - but you HAVE to still login with Google.  DJI only knows my external auth email and probably an ID token from the external provider
  • Open DJI Fly
  • Go to Profile -> Login
  • There is no "Google Login" option
  • Entering your Google credentials results in invalid password, because the Fly app is trying to login with a DJI user/pass, not a google one.
  • There is no way to login to Fly and the account is now useless except for on the forum.


Solution:
Add Google login to DJI Fly or remove it as an option from this forum.

Workaround:
Currently your forum account authentication options are not compatible with your apps.  I'm not the first to notice this - (see here: https://forum.dji.com/thread-156305-1-1.html)

You can create a DJI account first and then associate it with a google login.  So, you can't do it in the reverse order.  Create your DJI account first using your google email.  When you try to login with google later, it will ask you to associate the external account with the pre-existing DJI account.

To be clear:
  • Create a DJI account username/password first - do not login with google.
  • Finish setting up your account, verifying your email, etc.
  • Logout.
  • Now, login with the Google option that uses the same email as the DJI account.
  • On first login, you will get a prompt that you can associate this google acocunt with an existing DJI account, do it.
  • Now, you can still login to DJI Fly with your DJI username/password and log into this forum with the google auth.


Or, avoid the external providers because DJI doesn't support them.

Here is my account I created using the workaround.  I created the DJI account first then associated it with the google login.  I can still login to these forums with google and can still log into the fly app with the DJI account.

This really should be fixed.

Oh... that explains it. I too am now unable to fly as I can't log into the DJI Fly app. I created an account on the DJI website using Sign-in with Google.
This is ridiculous, fix your app, or remove that option from your website!
Edit: Also the "register with phone number" doesn't work. After I select a password and CAPTCHA I get an error of: "Invalid email". There is no option to enter an email when registering with phone number.

Ok, found a solution: Reset your password online using the link in the account page. This will then create a password for your account, which can be used to log in to the Fly app.

go into your phone and under your google account app , you need to remove old phones connected to your account and make your current phone the main phone. i have a galaxy s20 and my old galaxy s6 was still connected.

In fact, this is quite an important question. Many users have encountered this problem, including me. Apparently, this app has not been finalized yet. In my opinion, an unqualified specialist was engaged in developing the app.

Hello Everyone. Coming to this issue a year later.

I have experienced the exact same problem as the OP.

I'm very surprised that, from the responses on this forum, the admins seem so unconcerned about this issue. The app has been built in a way that prevents your users from using it when they follow your established procedures.

Surely this should be cause for immediate action?

Instead, we are being referred to user-generated workarounds? I genuinely don't understand.

DJI is a top-of-the-line company with groundbreaking products. This oversight seems incongruous with your brand identity and standards.

If anyone is still having trouble, I was finally able to reset the password through my computer's browser. Attempting to with the DJI app literally does nothing.

This is still a problem YEARS after it was reported. I just spent several hundred dollars on one of your drones and being unable to do something so trivial as log in to the app, is a really bad look and user experience. Fix it

Where did you find that link? Is it somewhere in the account page here, on this forum?
