All videos/photos was taken entirely using DJI Mavic Air.
Last year I've been able to go to places that I thought I could never be, the best thing that I appreciate here in the Philippines is that there are a lot of paradise that you can go into and here are some compilation of photos & videos that I've took during some of my vacation.
About my video, I usually want to take cinematic feel that's why I always set it to 25fps when shooting and I always make sure it's in 4k.
Since I wanted to make my video cinematic the music is always important, most of the time it's hard but when google the right keywords you'll find a perfect match of your music to your video.
I'm not a pro-video editor so I apologize if this video is something you just see like a school presentation. haha
Some tips as a fellow drone pilot
- Always do a research first to places that you planned to go into, every country has its own rules about drones.
- Make it a habit to do pre-flight and post-flight checks. It's best to determine if your drone is in good condition, take airplane pilots as your inspiration.
- Always bring extra props with you, you never know when you will use it but it's good to have a spare with you in case of emergencies.
- Practice with Simulator if you can't go outside, being a good drone pilot needs practice.
- If possible, have a spotter with you. Whether you are a beginner or a professional you can't see everything in your camera, so it's better to have someone to watch out for your drone while you are focused looking into the camera feed.
- Explore quick-shots section of the app. There will be times where you travel solo and you want to get videos/photos of yourself.
Some photography tips
- Learn rule-of-thirds. It's actually the most basic and common composition.
- Fly high/away (if possible). Your drone camera sensor is small compared to DSLR cameras, so you need to have a great distance between your subject and camera if you want to take photos of landscapes.
- Practice manual mode, sometimes it's good to rely on auto setting, but if you want to have flexibility with your shots then you have to learn manually and adjust the variables as needed.
- Learn post-processing. SOOC (Straight out of camera) shots are great, but you don't always have the right light or camera setting when you took the photo, as a photographer you want to convey your message/feeling to the viewer with your photo and having a basic knowledge with post-processing helps you do that.
- Learn the exposure triangle. You can google it.
Some photo/video post-processing tips
- Do color-correction to make your video/photo similar to how it should look like. Like if it is a sunny day at the beach, make sure the highlights are blues the sand is brownish white (something like that)
- Don't oversaturate your photos. sometimes we like to get out of boundaries for creativity research which is okay, but take note not everyone will like it.
- Don't over-edit. It's okay to be creative, but over-editing will take much of your time and not worth it.
- Do photo manipulation if needed. sometimes there will be out of place object(s) in your photo and you want them to remove, so unless you can get another shot of the photo, remove it using photoshop instead.
--------------
Too bad I am not a full-time traveler so I couldn't really take a lot of shots, but this year I'll try to go to more places that not all people always go to.
Enjoy and let me know of your thoughts, questions and comments are always welcome!
