Next up FPV Firmware update is supposed to give the 'smart controller' monitor capability.
Good News for 3rd party/client views.

Will DJI enable this HDMI monitoring feature for the Crystal Sky?

What say you DJI?

I'd read where the 'next' FPV update would include a smart controller capability as a monitor!  That's the essentially the same CS monitor and no reason why that legacy monitor should not be made operable as a FPV HDMI Monitor.

Where are you getting that information from? The smart controller is Ocusync 2. For Mavic Pro. Not compatible with the FPV System.

I can't remember the exact source but it seemed credible at the time I read it.  As far as I know, has nothing to do with the sync portion of the controller.  Overall, I'm disappointed that DJI has not given observers the option to monitor the visual feed.

I see. Well I do have some information for you. It's not a solution but I think it's good to be informed about what is being talked about. "the sync part of the controller" is not what you seems to think. "Ocusync" Is dji's branding for the video transmission and control protocol used by the Mavic Pro. "Ocusync 2" is For the Mavic Pro 2. DJI doesn't have a brand name for the FPV systems transmission tech. There has been no indication from DJI that Ocusync tech will work with the FPV system in the future. The FPV system was designed for low latency flying racing ect. While Ocusync was designed for film makers.

Now does that mean the it's impossible for Ocusync2 devices to be updated to work with the FPV system? Hmmm Hard to say as we are not allowed to look into the black box that is DJI. But I do know they never updated Ocusync1 devices (Mavic Pro) to work with Ocusync2 (Mavic 2 Pro). So I kinda doubt that Ocusync2 will be software updated to work with the FPV system.

Anyways hope that brings some clarity for you on the branding terms.

Geoffzz, you're right about the next firmware update providing fpv video feed to the "smart controller" as that was included in the notes from the last update(see link below).  There was no mention about crystal sky however, so that's a good question.

It's reality.
DJI fpv goggles can feed video to the smart remote.
Please DJI. Give us that functionality for CrystalSky.
    Furthermore,
I can plug my fatsharks into the CrystalSky and get an FPV view of the Mavic 2 (Looks strange in 4:3 but it can be done). I imagine the picture would be much better in the DJI fpv goggles, and in the correct aspect ratio.
Again DJI, You make great products.
Please let us use them at their full potential.

Here's another thread I posted and the moderator Stephen evidently passed it along.

I'm not holding my breath but we'll see what happens.
