With a chinnok at 200ft. I was busy practicing a shot when i heard it coming so did a 360 to see where it was and got out of the way and nearly crashed into the woods below. I think we need radar to get better warning of approaching aircraft at low altitudes.

Good swift reaction and not panic. What was your altitude when the copter was approaching?

You did a great job, both for avoidance of the chopper and to keep it in frame. On the south coast where I am, there are regular low altitude over-flies at well under 400ft.

FYI.
You can move side-to-side faster than you can up & down.

They can sometimes be on you before you know it.

How about the sheep in the field...The farmer would not be that pleased.

Yes thanks we get aircraft below 400ft quite alot. I can uderstand the need for low flying practice but over populated areas. The jets are even faster but not quite so low.

Yes i know but if i had gone sideways in the wrong direction it could have been worse as the chinnok was at the same height.

Yes you can hear them at quite a distance but as i am surrounded by woods and they are low you can not seem them until they are almost on you. If they had been coming with sun behind i would not have seen them, and that did not include the other chinnok that was on the other side of me flying lower.

Sheep not so bothered but looking at vid i had not noticed them running. I am not sure whether farmer cares as sheep are only on their way to someones dinner plate but yes not happy sheep.
