Has anyone had any recent experiences with drone usage in Peru?
I'm heading out there in a few months and I'm debating on whether to take my Mavic 2 Pro or not. I am aware you have to declare your drone upon arrival at the airport and have to pay around 20% value of your drone (you get this back upon leaving the country)... not really an issue, I've heard it's pretty straight forward.
I will be travelling to Ollayamtambo, Cusco, the Sacred Valley, and doing an alternative trek to Macchu Pichu. I am fully aware it is forbidden to fly drones over any sacerd site (Moray, Salt Mines, Macchu Pichu etc). I have also heard it is not allowed to allowed to fly in or around Cusco, does anyone have any experience with this? I wouldn't fly directly over the city, just the outskirts (taking off from a hillside overlooking the city).
I am wondering if it's worth taking it all if drones are forbidden at all of these sites... I intend on travelling to Huarez after Cusco, this is purely a mountainious region with stunning mountains reaching up to 6,000+ metres in altitude. Perhaps it's worth taking the drone for this region alone, even if I am unable to fly when I am in Cusco/the Sacred Valley?
Anyone with recent or past experience would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
