Hi all,

Just for fun a follow my shadow video.

For my own MM i use this checklist, free to use or not to use (and yes, many checklist on here so do not say mine is better )

To check a MM compass before take-off,  i align my MM to a known head course (N E S W) or align my MM to a road, waterway etc.
In the map view (default N up), easy to check if compass is OKE.

Happy many landings for all,
cheers

Thanks for sharing JJB*
Here in the US I also always check B4UFly FAA app for any flight restrictions.  This morning I was greeted with this:

FAA TFR for the above B4UFLY Flight restriction notice.
Notice in paragraph D of the TFR where they talk to UAS Operators.  The entire paragraph is all CAPS!

Before I looked at where you were I was going to ask if this was Netherlands. I spent a year in Utrecht. LOVED it.

Nice footage.

Cheers!

Thanks Bob,

I always use a tiny red rope on a stick....

  • rope wet - raining : stay inside
  • rope white - snow : stay inside
  • rope horizontal - too much wind : stay inside
  • etc...

But with good common sense you always know when its safe to fly.

Utrecht is nice place to be, i live near the coast, fresh air always but often too much wind to fly safely.

A red rope works well for weather.  I was just pointing out the importance for us folks that dwell in cities with airports need to be aware of Government Temporary Flight Restrictions as well.
I am envious of your country living JJB*

I love the water reflection off the little spring there. Vimeo video quality looks amazing. Is this why you chose it over something like Youtube? I've never used Vimeo, perhaps I should...

Nice shoot! I'm still getting used to MM characteristic but I feel that this speed is reasonable for this height although I have no experience with flying low over watter.

Hi

In my country we have lots of water....

I never ever had problems flying (real) low over water, but always good in sight + low speed + never apply 100% downstick.

Hi

Good to know, water is always nice in footage. At my level of experience I feel that Cinesmooth can be slow for moving on open sky but P-mode is quite fast for low passing or tight spaces.

Thanks JJB*.  I originally shot that for my 3 Year old Grand Daughter but I couldn't resist posting it after I watched your Mini shadow video.

The flight over the water canal was beautiful (and scary).

If I can add my own two cents I suggest a mobile device app for the list. I use an ancient app not/available anymore from the Play Store, i.e. List Master, it was probably too good and adless to stay afloat.

My pleasure JJB I wanted to suggest an app to input your list or any other list, so one can dynamically check-mark every single entry and group them by pertinence, for example safety checks ahead of flight path. Much more 21st century than a nice printout ;)

In 21st century all pilots still use paper and pen logs to record all aspects of flight, also most commercial drone companies will insist pilots do the same, you can scale down to a few inches a drone checklist and I guarantee once you get used to physically checking you will feel strange if you fly without checking .

I think I have seen some apps with checklist attached, check App Store or google amazon etc .

Well, life can be so simple ; many mobile devices can read pdf files   so put any list on your device, have a look and mental click each tick box.

Pen/paper is also a good way of ticking off a checklist.

Hello and thank you for sharing ...
Excuse for my "off topic"
Here at least your sequence is real and not "rigged" ....

By looking carefully at your image in the grass ... you do not have the feeling that there is noise in this area of the image?
On a small screen it hardly notices ... but on a TV, it's not beautiful.
In your example, I already wonder if an ND filter would have been necessary (?) This should decrease the Shutter by slightly attenuating these fluctuations by softening the sequence (very slight blurring)

I know, filming is an "art"!
Specialists always advise to film manually ... especially "atuofocus" MUST be disabled!
But, here is another concept.
I think we should, at least, be forced to block / unblock during recording the "AE" and thus guarantee a more "stable" rendering ... after it is according to the view.

Thank you for sharing . ;)

Hiya,

I think that the MM video are great for overview shots without too much drone speed flying high.
What you see in the grass is the same whenn panning a video shot, MA does a far better job than MM in that situation. Maby the low bitrate has to do with this.

But overall i am happy with my MM for the shots i made.
If not have to buy a M2pro....

cheers
JJB
