Hi Everyone,

I'm getting confused with different sources telling me different things. To fly the Mavic mini in the UK after the changes coming in the summer, I know I will need to register my Mavic mini and label it with the operator ID. However, is it essential that I will need to get the A2 Certificate of Competence? I'm so confused and I get the feeling some UAV training companies are only saying yes because they want to bank £250 from me.

Thanks in advance

Thank you, is that all that is necessary or will I need the A2 C of C as well?

Depends on what you want to do. This explains it in detail.

So essentially everything albeit the registration of drones stays the same, except if I want to fly closer than what the drone code currently allows I'll need the A2 C of C?

It’s only a few months before EASA Bring forward new rules for flying drones throughout Europe, the UK will be adopting these rules, so you may want to check out EASA web site to see what’s coming and how it will effect you.

You read up on how your Mini falls into the Legacy Aircraft for 2 years post July 2020, and then the more stringent distances you must keep from uninvolved people and structures.
