The battery for my DJI spark will not charge. When I press the buttons there are no lights. If I attach the battery to the Spark and charge via USB after pressing the button I get 6 flashes from the first light followed by 4 flashes from lights one and two respectively but still no power and no flashes after the Spark is removed from the charger.

I have 2 batteries doing the same thing..

Anyone with knowledge on how to remidy the issues would be greatly appreciated.

I am very sorry about the case. Could you please provide the serial number of the batteries for a further check? At the same time, please try to keep the battery charging for about 2 hours.
Besides, to maintain battery health, we suggest storing the battery at 40~65% power if you are going to have a long time not using it. Totally discharge and charge the battery at least once every 3 months. We have battery care guides here for your reference, too.

I have the same problem. All of a sudden neither of my two batteries will charge via USB. When I plug it in, nothing happens, no lights.. Have tried with different cables and have tried leaving it overnight, but still nothing happens? It can't be the battery cause it's both of them having the same issue?

I created a ticket with support and got the same run around of telling me to buy a new battery due to their faulty design and hardware. I plan on selling my drone as soon as I can and never buying anything DJI again. What a waste of everyone's time.

I don't know if this will help anyone, but here is my experience today with 5 batteries that have been dormant for 10 months.  I have a DJI three battery charging hub.  I went to charge the first three, of my five, and only the first battery started showing signs of charging.  The other two had no lights when connected to the charger.  When i pressed their buttons, one light would flash for a short while, but still not able to charge.  I then placed one of these batteries into the Spark and turned on the Spark with the normal double press.  The Spark started up and I let it cycle through for a normal startup.  I then turned off the Spark with the normal double button press and removed the battery.  It now is charging, as normal, in the battery charging hub.  The others that seemed dead are charging as well.

I'm having the same exact issue. It's unfortunate since I've only used my $500 drone one time for a short flight and have only just gotten to a location where I have adequate room to play with it. Not willing to pay 10-20% of the cost of the drone just for a new battery. It's a nice looking paperweight at least. It goes without saying I will never be buying from DJI again.

Same issue here. I opened the battery and checked the internal power of the 3 single cells. They were low, but acceptable. So I charged and decharged them a few times. The cells are working fine and they have nearly the same capacity. But the battery does not work. If I put it in the drone and attach it to the charger, I have two different light signals: Battery 1: left two leds flashing 4 times, then break, then repeat. Battery 2: left three leds flashing 3 times, then break, then repeat.

What I really do not understand is, that DJI is not giving out the meaning of those led codes.

I already bought two new batteries but as long as DJI is behaving that way, this was my last drone from DJI. No chance to get any more money from me.

What I will do next is to print an adapter which fits to the internal contacts of the battery and let an external charger rebalance the batteries.

Hi Av8orlab,

Having seen your YT video, it could be the power supply you used. It needs to supply at least 2 amps (better 3 amps) to be accepted. Your PS seems to be right at the border, it shuts down as soon as the full current is needed.
Can you try another power supply?

I'm having the exact same problem with one of my DJI Spark batteries. Pretty sad the way this company has been treating customers lately. I have and many many others as well have a problem with their air units saying SD card slow all the sudden. They don't seem to care. I will never buy anything from this company ever again. Every chance I get I will let people know they are all about taking your money and that's about it. I recommend people looking into AUTEL drones from now on.

Using this drone occasionally. Same exact problem here, this is beyond frustrating.
I own another drone and a ronin s, had random issues and DJI customer service was quite disappointing every time.

You are making drones that grandmas can fly, but require an exceptional care of these batteries. This looks more like planned obsolescence by design to me.
This was the last straw, I am done with this brand.

Hey, shadow, late reply, but did you get lucky with the external balancing ? I charged the cells seperate up to 3 leds, but still nothing

It appears to me that between batteries and drones, DJI can do something if a drone falls out of the sky, because they can get the flight log. With batteries, they have no log to use, and therefore can only assume that you either did or did not store them properly.
When I got my Spark last summer, the batteries were over 1 year old, but never used. After a full charge through the DJI 3 battery charger, they came back from their sleep and worked as they should have. Over this winter, I discharged them to 50-75%, and when I charged them up later in the spring, they worked fine.
Try following Blushift1's post #15 to see if it would help you out

A great many of the complainants use batteries completely badly. DJI does not stress the importance of battery management enough.
1. the LiPO battery will fail if it is completely discharged and not charged as soon as possible (within 20 minutes)
2. the LiPO battery will be damaged if left fully charged for an extended period of time
3. it should be stored at 50-55% charge for longer periods (winter)
and recharge after very long storage (6 months) if necessary.
4. do not discharge below 20% charge during flight if not necessary. The best lifetime is possible using between 80%-20%, but 80% would give little flight time.
5. Only charge to 100% before the flight and discharge as soon as possible (point 2). If you are not going to fly it that day, you should use 50-55%. (point 3)

If you follow these instructions, you will have a good battery for a long time.

I read in many posts that you didn't use it, then took it out and it didn't work. This is the most common mistake that destroys cells: deep discharge!

It does not mention how far it will go. I have started to charge the batteries now and then, just to try to avoid any risk of depleted batteries. They are three years old and still work. I agree that LiPo batteries should be stored at about 3.8V per cell, which should roughly be about 50% capacity, I have some other LiPo batteries which are almost ten years old which still works OK.

If you leave a "ordinary" LiPo with no fancy electronics at 50% it can be stored "forever", but I guess these Intelligent Batteries always draw some current?

1. Yes, the electronics protect the battery, so after 10 days it will discharge to about 50%. But that doesn't mean that 10 days is not a problem. Every day you store the battery at 100% charge, it slowly damages the battery. So I never wait for the protection to drain it. If one of my batteries has not been flown out (I leave at least 20% in it), I will drain it to 55-50% on return home by hovering (this drains the sample faster than flying).
I recharge immediately before use, so that it lasts as short a time as possible at 100% charge. For example: I charge it in the evening if I want to fly it the next day.

I agree completely to your method of discharging batteries to storage level (about 50%). I do use other "plain" LiPo batteries for planes, helicopters and if I charge the batteries for some flying and for some reason is not able to go out and fly I have a specific discharger to discharge them to storage level.
I am still a little suspicious about the DJI batteries, but maybe people have discharged them too much when flying, so when they come back after a year or so, the batteries are dead and can't be revived.  LiPo does not discharge by itself the same way as NiMH, but some self discharge will probably occur. It is good to check up on the batteries now and then (if you can remember it ). When I fly my planes and helicopters I will only fly until about storage level, which I know by experience what time it makes roughly. It is maybe a bit short, but then I don't have to recharge them at home afterwards.

Having read this thread, I don't think anyone can help me, but I'll try. I recently was given a Spark drone from a company going out of business. As far as I can find out, it was probably bought in 2017. It would not have been used much, if at all. I don't even know if it was ever activated.  It came in the box but the charger and usb cable were missing. I've tried charging the battery with various chargers and cables I have with no success. Sometimes when I press the button I get 1 flashing green light followed by two green lights flashing in sequence.

I assume this battery is dead?

My Spark battery suddenly drops down to 0% while flying despite being fully charged. Any idea, what the problem could be?

Apparently these batteries are a real piece of junk. I must have used my spark about 5 or 6 times. I kept it for a while and today I went to recharge the batteries to use it again. The two dead. They stay connected to the charger for hours and only the first two LEDs flash 4 times and the cycle restarts. Not charge. The Internet is full of people complaining about these batteries, and there is even a market for the recovery and sale of alternative batteries. So expensive and so ordinary. Too bad

I have the same problem as everyone here. I bought my drone three years ago and only used it three to four times and put it back in its box inside my house in a good environment without humidity and I don't have not retouched until today. I have 5 batteries and only one came back to life. I tried all the stuff I could find on the net and nothing. I realize by reading you and by reading the answers to your questions that I will surely have to buy other batteries. I find it really unfortunate on the part of DJI to have so many people who have the same problem and which seems really not normal to me that we have to reinvest in new batteries which, on my side, still smell like new. you need to do a few things for your customers. I admit that I'm not the one who used it the most for personal reasons, but I wanted to enjoy it during my vacation and here I am with a brand new drone that I can't even use.

I turned off the drone and plugged it back into the 3 bay charger and it charged. i regularly check and charge my batteries because i dont have money to buy new ones or even a new drone

I had a similar problem. In preparation for a flight I had all 3 batteries and the R/C charged up at the charging station the evening before, and all looked fine.
When I went to fly, I noticed one of the batteries did not turn on.
I thought, oh sh*t, now it got me too...new Spark batteries are unobtanium now.
I then put that battery in the Spark and connected it to a 2 amp capable wall wart, and that battery came to life right away!

I live in the US now, but I need to go to France next week, which website do you recommend me to buy from? How do you feel about their batteries?
