Beautiful.
Can you share a motion timelapse too?
I'm considering the OP for that purpose so I'm investigating that.

Thank you for your comment

At this time, I only did a couple of motion timelapses
if the weather allows, I will try this weekend

You're welcome.
That would be nice.
So far I have not seen a device that can make motion timelapses as smooth as I would like them to be. Especially when there is some wind involved it is all shaky with my Osmo Mobile.

When I tried, it looked smooth to me ... but the view was not worth recording - so these clips were deleted.

We are expecting rain and thunderstorms  for the next few days, but I will try

No problem. I'm not in a hurry.
(can't go anywhere that is worth it right now)

There are 3 things that bothered me with the OM.
First was the video quality itself with motion timelapses.
It had a  very low bitrate and nothing I could do about it.
Normal video looked good by the way.
Which is strange, because motion timelapses don't require a lot of resolution, but that was something that did not work well in the Go App I suppose.

Next problem was that it was very buggy. Sometimes it worked, other times it just aborted the sequence.
So when I returned after 30 minutes I had 1 second or so of end result....
Again nothing I could do about this. I have an iPhone with all the latest software etc.

Finally, especially with some wind, there were unwanted jumps etc. in the video. It was not smooth at all.
My suspicion is that the weird way of attaching from the side made it more vulnerable to wind and this motion was not corrected (in post).
But I sold the OM because the video quality was not good enough with motion timelapses, so I can't try more.

But I do want a device to make motion timelapses, because that is a very nice way b-roll for my projects and they are (should be) very easy to make (just set up the camera and go do other stuff)
So I am considering the Osmo Pocket for that.

Even though I am not too interested in the 'normal' gimbal stuff as I will probably leave it at home most of the time since I carry my heavy DSLR that delivers far more pleasing DOF than any compact camera can do and I want to take that with me always for stills (and video).
So my main purpose is really the motion timelapses as I can't make those without heavy, expensive equipment with my DSLR (plus it will eat way the shutter so fast)

Thank you all for the comments.

There were a few lessons learned after making this:
1. make sure that the wind cannot move the tripod ( failed to that )
2. make sure that no squirrel can pass in front of camera   (failed to do that)
3. but most importantly, set the focus mode to AFS ( failed to that too )

I did some testing today.

Thanks Woe.
From what I see the bitrate looks very low. (lot's of artifacts)
What is the bitrate of the files?

Bitrate varies from 35000 kbps to 4472 kbps ... But the video was mostly under exposed.  ( after 6 pm under heavy, dark sky )

I was just trying to show how smooth the movement is ( or not ) ...
I will try again once we have some better lighting condition

On a completely different topic, I am not Woe

One more thing.

When making a motion lapse, you have the option of saving each JPEG. The you can use other tools to generate the movie from the JPEGs, giving you better control on the quality

Whahahahahahaha.
Whahahahaha.
Now I see.
I also asked Woe about it and my sleepy head must have thought it was him....

Sorry mate.
Nothing personal

Back to reality, I don't remember the exact bitrate I got with the OM1 but it was also very much showing artifacts. I have always assumed it was because of the low bitrate. (that seem the only logical explanation)
I really hope it will do better in better lighting (OM most certainly failed in many cases)

Thanks for testing. Woe... (just kidding)

Oh, that is a great option indeed.
OM1 did not have that option.
That should give for much better end result!
