I turn wifi and bluetooth OFF ... I leave the gsm ON.
I have no problem with interf this way.

I've been flying since the Inspire arrived in January with my phone on and acting as a portable hotspot and the tablet making a wifi connection with the phone. I have done this with both Ipad and Android devices as well as the phone itself running the Pilot app. I have always made sure the GPS was locked and my home point set to where I was. I have also updated the app and firmware as soon as they were published. So far I have had no problems or unexpected behaviour.

I always forget that my phone is on me when calibrating and flying. The wifi and blue tooth is on all of the time. I do not use it as a hot spot.
My phone is a HTC M8 and I use the Ipad air. "Knock on wood" but after 16 flights and 2:42 hours, no issues to report.

I think this is mainly to avoid interf for the camera feed ...
The flight control should not be affected (in that case we would have serious problems).  

At home my iPhone and my iPad interf each other if I place them to close together

before take off i download map. . . . then airplane mode and take off.

I always set my pager to silent, then I fly.

I have everything on, no probs with 240+ flights.

I always leave everything on but now I am considering trying to turn off as I do occasionally get signal interference although it is very random and until this thread, I didn't know why.

Has anyone ever received a call or text message on their iPhone 6 while using it for the Go App and flying the DJI3?  If so, what happened, if anything?

its not cause of this trust me, i use my phone to fly and dont turn anything off, ive had no issues doing so in 8 months.  The only advantage using airplane mode will give you is extending your devices battery time slightly.

i have samsung note 4 and the pilot app and this happens to me occasionally, it just pops up the notification on the screen and covers part of the app but doesnt do anything else.  You can fly without using the app at all, it wont affect your signal for flight controls at all when the app gets covered or if it crashes due to phone running out of cpu power to handle the app and whatever other app is interupting it, you just lose video feed.  Ive answered phone calls and hold the remote/phone to my ear and let the inspire just hover sometimes if its an important call, lol

I have taken a number of incoming calls while flying, but only because I forgot I had the phone on me. I put my iPad mini 2 in airplane mode with wifi off. But the phone (iPhone 5s) I think, is always on and I have not experienced any problems from doing this.

This is how I do it ...
(I took a screenshot from my iPhone but it works the same on an iPad.)

Put your finger on the bottom of your screen ... swipe up ... you will get acces to the "short cut menu" looking something like this.
Just push the icons to turn them on or off.
No icon for GSM ... I just leave that on ... ;)

I am going to try airplane mode more often and see if there is any major differences.

Never switch anything off, 250 flights no probs, touch wood,,,

I have found that going into Airplane Mode is a huge help when close to a Cell Tower.

    Yes, All that happened  was I had to bring home milk and bread...........................

Nothing negative, just a momentary interruption.  I Now fly with cell phone off and Airplane Mode on my  Ipad.

I have an iPad Air and all I do is quit all other background running apps and thats it.

I use my phone for flying so I always go into, "Flight mode" because I don't want to get a phone call in the middle of a flight, not for any reasons of interference. I got calls a few times and it covers the whole screen, is very distracting and can interrupt otherwise nice video shots needlessly.

I do not turn my phone onto "Airplane Mode" but I do turn it to "DO NOT DISTURB." This way, incoming texts or emails are not cluttering the screen but I am still able to have an adaptive home point using data.

I get irritated that someone calls while I am trying to have fun. Send call to Voicemail, Resume having fun. Have not experienced a problem yet

People who understand the nuances of rf leakage and bleed and how a badly designed front end or poor harmonic isolation will swamp an AGC circuit will have everything turned off.

You may get 499 uneventful flights but on the 500th...........

I usually put mine on airplane mode if I remember, but I've had the wifi on  my phone and tablet left on many times and never have had a problem

I always thought it was a good idea, I even pay for my LTE on my iPad just to feel that the GPS and maps are more accurate.. Maybe I am wrong.  I would make sure things like bluetooth and wifi are disconnected, but LTE I always left on.

Turning air plane on does make sense and cautionary. Whether it makes a difference, I am going for the best practice.

I've flown both ways, if you think about it, DJI created the option to allow us to live stream to social media outlets, so it kind of defeats the purpose if interference is such an issue. Now since the whole "wirreless interference" fiasco I am so paranoid I DL the map and go to airplane mode plus leave the cel off my person, in the car or home if Im flying out of my back yard. I still haven't confirmed if it makes a difference as I've had the "wireless interference" BS happen both ways.
