Just trying to get an idea of what people are actually using.

If I get a Mavic Mini I'll need a 'new' phone so probably a 2nd hand one from the likes of ebay.

Works really well had no issues, It's a large device but I can even leave it in its case when I attach to the controller

Honor 10 has worked flawlessly for me and fits the controller holder well.

Google Pixel 3XL - fits in the controller just fine.

iPhone 11 Pro Max.  The IOS app works great with no problems.

Just purchased a "used" iPhone 8 off Woot.com for under $180.  Stripped it of extraneous Apps, loaded Fly, Mimo, UAV Forecast, Weatherbug, and Compass Apps.  Even though the " 8 " is on the DJI list, I still get occasional "this device may not be compatible"  warning, which disappears and the thing works flawlessly.   Runs current version of  iOS ( 13.4.1 ) on the A11 processor with 64GB memory.  Although it's an ATT "locked" phone, I don't use it as a phone, so don't care.  With GPS, Bluetooth, WiFi of near current generations, there's no need to spend more on more recent screens.  Yes... the screen washes out in bright sunlight... and what screen doesn't !!??

Ive tested the Samsung S6 the S7 edge and the Iphone 8 plus, all work fine, there is a thread somewhere about some of the Samsung phones having issues due to the processor in them.

S.Galaxy s9+, I will say that the Fly editing software has a function that only works for iPhone's at this time rhythm editing . Not sure if there are other functions Androids don't have available.

Ok went for an S6, I can't actually use a phone as a phone as I have become deaf since buying the S5 etc.  so the S6 was the cheapest option.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 with Android 7 also. You need a sun shade with it or it will be too dim in direct sunlight. Got it for $70 used on eBay and looks to be perfect otherwise.

I use a Samsung Galaxy Tab A SM-T290 on my other Mini. Much brighter in the sun but still needs a shade when bright. That one is not supported by DJI so updates must be done manually.

I have several sunshades for phantom controllers and will have a play, best one though was a diy one made from a ceareal box lol, beep beep in the wind though

Pixel 3A.  The screen isn't bright enough in direct sunlight, but I fixed that with a homemade monitor hood for flying.

Yes, and the screen brightness can be turned up high so you can see it easily in the sun.

DJI fly & Samsung S6 update, the phone works fine with the App but when the phone was connected to my Windows laptop I could not find any flight logs in any of the DJI folders. I did however find then by looking through the folders seen when checking "storage", I also found them by using the built in myfiles app. I bluetoothed them to the laptop. I had noticed that window would only see the phone when the USB connection mode of the phone was set to PTP.  It ended up I had to force a driver update for some aspect of the USB connection to allow MTP mode and then the flight logs as seen by windows appeared in their appropriate folders.

From the results posted, I concluded that the cell phone needs to be 64 bits, Snapdragon 800 or higher, compass, 4 RAM, Android 7 or higher.
Am I right?

Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact.
Getting a few Graphics Glitches on the right side of the screen, which don't affect my experience in a negative way. In general I never had an App Crash or any other problems.

Sony XZ3 and Xperia 10 both work fine but for the mini I'd go Xperia 10 the XZ3 is a slippery handset out of a jacket but it's fine on the Air 2 controller.   If you want full features in the app editor iPhone is the option.

Actually I have just bought an S5 iphone, the Android-draining-the-controller's-battery thing  annoyed me too much.
I have read that it is a requirement of USB and or Android that the host (controller) supplies the device (phone) with power but I am left wondering why DJI put such a 'small' capacity battery, 2.6Ah, in the Mini's controller (MR1SD25) when the Mavic 2 Pro's controller (RC1B) has a 3.95Ah battery?
The controller shells are of almost identical size and I would think that there is less space available in RC1B because of its additional features yet the capacity of its battery is half as big again as that of the MR1SD25
