According to CAA rules you cannot fly your drone higher than 120 meters (400 feet) out off NFZ. at the same time any aircraft or helicopter "should be 1,000 ft over a built-up area or otherwise 500ft from people, vehicles, vessels and structures". your drone will never crush airplane or helicopter if you do not break the rule. never.
give me a good reasons why do you need this irritating useless thing?

I think people want it for additional awareness. As we all know, pilots of both drones and manned aircraft don't always play by the rules, and anything that helps avoid a conflict and possible accident is a good thing. Pilots of manned aircraft are going to be completely unaware of a drone until it is possibly too late, so drone pilots are in the best position to prevent a collision. But they need to have the tools to do so.

Two good reasons:
1/ Because some airplanes & helicopters do not follow the rules  2/ Because I'm not used to paying more to get less

Lots of helicopters like Life flight fly low and having that extra awareness
can only be a good thing.

I agree with the op, you shouldn't need it. What we do need is Dynamic Obstacle Avoidance on the drones, its the way forward in the future, you cant rely on operators to react at all, let alone react correctly if in an emergency scenario. Let the drone do the job.

I agree, I think the fact that well over 50% of manned aircraft are not bothering with it, then it has little use for drones .

Any method of making flying safer for ourselves and manned aircraft should not be an after thought or a wanna be, this is a must as far as I am concerned.

Uk based & not concerned by the lack of it or I would not have purchased the Air 2 now.  Every flight is a risk accessment & I'd agree dynamic obstacle avoidance would be preferable anyway but even that isn't infallible just like apas 3 won't always save your drone.

Well then if you’re using Flightradar24, you are getting much more information than Airsense and more complete, so eyes in the sky are all you need with that.

I can't think of any good reason, but if such a "feature" exists most people want it regardless - not so sure we can be called possessed by that.  It's probably a good move for Dji to implement in order to keep in with the anti-drone and fly safe campaigners and to sell more drones.  If there is the option of having it on or off who cares anyway.

Context..."apas wont always save your drone" no mention that is what airsense is for you simply made your own interpretation and were as pedantic as  usual

The Flightradar24 app is no substitute for having ADS-B support in the Mavic Air 2 and DJI Fly since you aren't going to be using both apps at the same time. Also, much of the information shown in Flightradar24 comes from ADS-B and local data feeders, and data sources like radar are not going to pick up low-flying or occluded aircraft.

That's why I say any additional tech available to make drone flying safer will ensure that we stay in the air with less bad press and crazy regulations keeping our drones on the ground

Around here I regularly see helicopters under 500 ft, usually Police or Ambulance.   I use Dump1090 to see the ADS-B data being sent.
