Just returned from flying the Mavic Air 2 and whilst checking everything over on my return home a new firmware release ending .250 popped up on my iPhone. Lots of areas optimised including 8K hyperlapse. Note that your spare batteries will need to be done too once the Aircraft and Remote are up to date.

V01.00.0250
+ Added switch to automatically detect subjects in FocusTrack, and optimized the
overall performance of FocusTrack.
+ Added ability to track subjects by dragging a box around it when using Free
Hyperlapse mode.
+ Added ability to store 8K Hyperlapse in RAW format, use playback to view 8K
Hyperlapse, and for more media players to play 8K Hyperlapse.
+ Added prompts in DUI Fly when GPS experiences interference.
* Increased maximum flight speed to 19 m/s when using Spotlight in Sport mode,
and added support for Spotlight at night.
* Optimized Smart RTH.
* Optimized performance when using wave gesture to trigger ActiveTrack and
QuickShots.
* Reduced noise when recording HDR video at night.

thanks for the info!

One thing that is starting to annoy me on this fly app is that the air data does not sync - 6 of my 19 flights to date on the MA2 are not showing up in my mileage which should be well over 12million feet! Do you know away around it? Deleting and reinstalling the app just permanently deletes the records that have not auto saved.

is the Fly app on IOS still the same 1.1.3  or does it have to be updated too for some of those firmware updates to be active?

I think it’s also due app update, Android was updated to .14 last week, I also don’t see support for gimbal control speed which I thought would come, maybe app update . And still no support for Smart controller.
Thanks for the heads up.

No worries mate - I'm surprised the gimbal control speed isn't there - fingers crossed we get an app update soon to work with this one.

That's probably going to need to come in a Smart Controller update, not a drone update.

I have set my clock milage to meters, if I do say 5000m it’s recorded in my milage as 5000ft so there is definitely something wrong with how it records.

Hi Hallmark
I accidently deleted one of my flights stored in the fly app. Do you know if i can retrieve it back some how? I tried deleting and reinstalling the app and resyncing the flight data to no avail.
It was my longest flight to date too!

I did 4 flights today - around 90,000 feet flown but only one flight is showing in my distance on here. Definite glitches mate.

They tend to be released on different dates - usually iOS first.

I still don’t get it.  If you use the DJI Assistant app on your computer, it doesn’t know what device you use, it just checks the FW status of your drone and offers you the latest version.

Once deleted it’s gone unless you had it to automatically sync to dji cloud, it could be on their cloud and you would have to contact them or a moderator to check if it was uploaded .

Yes it does - there are two different types of Assistant 2 - one for Mac and one for Android. A firmware release will hit both but rarely on the same day hence why everyone tends to stipulate which one so as not to disappoint the other or waste peoples time.

Ah, got ya... hang on, thought I did.
What happens if you install the Windows version? How does that know if you're using an iPhone or an Android device?

I'm not trying to be awkward, just want to understand.

Yeah, DJI seem to have improved on this to be fair but not so long ago Android users could wait literally weeks to get the firmware that iOS users were already enjoying.

Good question and I'll only be guessing in my response as never used an Android device on a DJI drone but it should be ok to upgrade the firmware with say an iPhone using the app or a Mac using Assistant 2 then fly the drone with an Android smart phone or tablet as the firmware will be installed.

I'm not sure what implications that would cause if the app for either is out of date though, as you will often find for key upgrades built into the FW to work it will require the app to be upgraded too. Hence why we have an iOS FW released earlier today but have the same app version from weeks ago so not all of the features on the new FW may be able to be used as yet. I expect we'll see an app update very soon.

I would echo this advice and no try to update the Mavid Air 2 using either DJI Assistant 2 for Mavic or the iOS version of DJI Fly if you intend control the drone using the Android version of DJI Fly. The reason for this is that there may have been a protocol change that requires updates on both ends of the connection.

I would wait until the firmware update shows as an option in the Android version of DJI Fly. At that point updating using it or DJI Assistant 2 for Mavic should be safe.

What does it mean to update each battery individually?
Do I have to set all 3 batteries and connect to controller?

Hi. Using the DJI Assistant 2 for Mavic software the battery and firmware in the drone will be updated. Then you put in the next battery in the drone and it will say " incompatible component detected"  referring to that battery needing updating. You click and update the battery. Then if you have another battery you put that in the drone and go through the process. Worked flawlessly for me earlier today but I haven't had a chance to fly the updated drone and batteries yet.

So it should be connected to PC.
I didn't install any PC software for Mavic AIR 2, now it's time to do.

Why can I not plug my new I pad pro 4th generation usbc cable directly into my Mavic air 2 and download my footage. Is there going to be a firmware update anytime soon for this? I do not want to buy the apple dongle and this previously worked on the Mavic 2. Please fix this DJI.
