New drone.  Third day of flying.  3 fully charged batteries with latest firmware  for the drones and batteries.

During second flight, approx 8 mins into flight in normal mode, using active track feature and following a small boat at approx 4 knots, the drone gave 3 warnings: critical battery error, battery overtemp and land immediately.

Recovered to safe landing site. However, battery could not be turned off. Equally battery could not be removed from drone body. Fan was heard running.

Battery took several hours to deplete.  Battery could not be removed still.  Stuck drone in freezer for 30 mins.  This provided enough thermal expansion for the battery to be freed.

Upon inspection  the battery suffered an internal failure and burn through of the aft wall.  Heat damage also found on the aft battery compartment bulkhead of the drone. See pics.

Case raised with DJI support.  Will update when and how they respond.
