Anyone having height issues? I had mine at eye level and it should say 6 feet, but it was off about 2 feet. Then I took near a basketball goal and instead of saying 10 feet, it showed 7.8.

I just got one of these and new to drones in general but I too noticed the altitude display is not very accurate at low levels anyway,I'm sure it's user error on my part.

Hand take-off mayby ??  height is set to zero after take-off, so its not the absolutely height drone<>ground.

cheers

I noticed this on day 1.

I would say almost everyone has noticed this with their aircraft. At altitudes up to 10 feet or so the downwad sensors ae measuring the height, above that it is the barometric sensor. Either way they are both going to show some errors, it is normal.

Is it possible the home point was set in the air as it gained satellite locks so, for example, ground level + 2ft and then measure height from there?

No ... It has nothing to do with setting the home point or hand launching.
Your drone sets the zero height before it gets GPS.
The height comes from a barometric sensor that measures very small changes in air pressure.
It's normal to see slight height differences over the time of a flight.

I think you may have mis-typed. It should be 10 meters, not 10 feet ;-)

Thank you, you are right, I meant 10 Metes.

Hand launching does effect the indicated baro height.
This height, reference height,  is set to zero shortly after takeoff.
So a person of 2 meter with a hand high take off will set zero to +2 meter for a start, different than the same drome at takeoff from ground level.

Just do both take-offs and see the difference.

I was experimenting  today and it seems to be zeroed at motor stop or landing, (difficult to tell which). I landed at + and - heights wrt to the relevant takeoff points. The drone starts 'counting', from 0, at the subsequent motor start, which agrees with post #7.

No it isn't.
You need to pay more attention to your screen.
Watch your screen on powering up your drone and you'll see that Height = zero is established soon after powering up the drone, when the IMU initialises and before GPS location data is acquired.

What would be the point of zeroing height after takeoff??

Good question, your last one.  Do not have the answer to that.
I am always watching my screen very closely.  ;-)

But after take-off and after landing as well baro height is set to zero, see DAT data.
Will perform a test to make the difference larger, a) at powering up and b) engage rotors and lift up.If the DJI engineers wrote their lines with knowledge than there must be a reason for it and is the value reset, not set, after the initially IMU setup.

Now find some flight data that shows the height actually being reset after takeoff.
