Hey all together,
i am not a far flier, but I find it very interesting to fly high, even if we are only allowed to fly 100m high in Germany, I would be interested to know how high it would make it, of course so that it can come back again? :-))

Have anybody experience in it or have you tried it by yourself and even taken pictures?

Thanks and regards Guido

I have not tried going above the 400 foot level allowed in the US.  The maximum limit selectable from the app is 500 meters ( would be above take-off point).  The rated service ceiling by DJI is 5000 meters above sea level, so they are not recommending flying higher than that, regardless of where you takeoff from.

Well there's two things of course, max altitude (thin air) and the 500m-from-starting-altitude limitation in the firmware. People have taken the Mavic 2 Pro up to ~2500m from sea level when using the trick to enable ATT mode. I wouldn't be surprised if the MA2 could do the same, purely technically speaking as it has roughly the same range and power. Myself I've only had it at about 12-1300m flying off a peak in that height range, but I have no doubt it has power enough to go much, much higher. One guy posted on these forums a while back, having it at 3000 something meters. Think he flew from a tall peak somewhere in Asia.

Of course at such altitudes wind can quickly become a major problem.

The only way yo can get there using the stock app without modifications is to takeoff from 4500 meters.  The app keeps you to 500 meters above takeoff.

The drone can fly up to 500 meters. But, legally here in the USA you can only do 121.9 meters. I am not sure about laws in Germany.

High enough to be sucked into a turbofan of a passing jetliner.

Before the the time of regulation, a friend of mine got his P3A
three miles up. Again this was before the time of reg. So if not
for that I'm 100% positive the M2A can do that easily.

It can take off and be flown at altitudes of 5,000m ASL (in a mountain range)
It can be flown at altitudes of 500m above the home point and even higher with a hack
The default setting is 120m as the legal altitude limit in most countries and you will need to agree to a pop up disclaimer in the app if you increase it

The drone could therefore be flown KM's above the ground but not something I would even consider attempting  as endangering manned aircraft with a UAV in the UK can lead to five years behind bars...

The Air2 can fly as far as radio control will allow. So if radio signal is good for 10,000 m then it’s possible to fly backwards forwards up down, with dji drones they have a governor to stop flight above 500m, so you need to remove this to fly above 500m
