So flights from inside Minnesota State Parks is illegal. But I talked to a Park Ranger and confirmed my suspicion, that only taking off and landing is the banned activity. And that flights from outside the park, over the park, is out of their jurisdiction. So this was the first MN State Park that I flew over this summer. I tried to stay as high as possible as to not disturbe people or wild life.

That's cool. How did you ever find that stream crossing with drone from outside the park? It took me half a battery to find the bison and I could see it from where I was standing!

It's a small park and I think I got lucky. Just found the river and started following it. Funny thing, it's not the same crossing that I cut to, but it's close enough.

An interesting compilation, and a neat idea to launch from outside the park. But if your drone had crashed whilst inside the park boundaries, would that have constituted a "landing" and incurred a penalty for you?   Just curious .  Thanks for the share.

It's an interesting thought, and I think you COULD be in trouble if you ran into the wrong park ranger. I think if that happened (fingers crossed I haven't crashed a drone since June 2017) I think I would explain that I was trying to follow the rules but failed in my execution and ask for forgiveness.

Yes it would have to be an unfortunate chain of events to lead to a prosecution scenario.  Anyway, looking at that scenery from above, I would think a crashed drone would be a difficult thing to find - particularly if it was stuck up a tree.  In fact that might be a get-out. If it was up a tree it wouldn't technically have "landed" yet
