Acting upon some recomendations from another thread here I did a video in which 1) I panned slower and less and 2) Changed the res to 1080, the fps to 60 and shutter speed of 120.  I like it, but to my eyes 1080p is not as crisp as 2.7k.  Next time, I'm going to fly both resolutions along the same path.  (There's another thread here by  K6CCC that does a great job comparing the resolutions).

edit: Thread credit for the comparisson videos should go to wh1chocl4 - thanks K6CCC for letting me know

No, my friend, this is not a smooth, cinematic panning ... Too much of jerky movements ... You must practice better, subtle yawing. Perhaps adjust stick responsiveness, but I'm not sure MM is offering such ...

Nice footage and great location. Just some points from my small experience and these are very subjective points :-)
Not only with Mini but with any camera I shoot in the best resolution in case I want to do some cropping in post production without lose quality (or much quality).
Only case I would shoot in 1080 is to apply slow motion in editing (from 60fps (or 120fps in other cameras) to 25 or 24 fps).
Finally I cannot see any benefit of producing video for YouTube in 1080p 60fps....1080p/25 or 24 fps gives quite good footage most of the times

Advice in another thread was that the difference in 1080p 60fps and 2.7k at 30fps would be negligible.  Hoping that the higher frame rate coupled with the faster fps would reduce the motion blur of the panning shots.  I'm shooting with a 1/120 shutter speed also.

I was deliberately panning fast in places as I'm still experimenting on finding the best overall settings for doing the whole kayak thing.  LOL - it is problematical to view and judge videos on the water.

I'm going to take a more scientific approach next weekend - I'll do 4 short vids of the same course, all with different settings - starting with...

2.7k/30fps/s60
2.7k/30fps/s120
1080p/30fps/s60
1080p/60fps/s120

I think that will give me the range of the best options.

There is always something to try out when it considers something new.
In this case youtube compression won't do your footage much good.
That is probably why your 2.7K footage looks a bit sharper.
